Are Bush's ads starting to hurt Kerry ?
After spending more than a reported $50 million dollars as a substitute for a thumb in the dike, it seems the Bush people have stooped the potential flood and may have repaired the dike...

Mos tof the polls, worthless though they are, show that the race has stabilized to a near draw between the two candidates but Bush continues with his negative ad campaign. One after another, relentlessly on nationwide cable TV. How much of a toll will it make on the Kerry campaign?

1. No, Kerry is hurting Kerry..
I'm in Ohio, and I'm saturated with shrubby's bullshit ad's and i'm not seeing any Kerry ads. Plus I don't think kerry is being aggressive enough. I'm worried.

2. Kerry doesn't have as much money as Bush does
if he did then he could easily respond and air his own ads. bush has raised around 200 million dollars. kerry has raised about 70 million.

10. I'm no expert...but is it true that no GOP fascist has won the presidency
without winning ohio? and if that is the case...wouldn't you agree that OHIO should take precedent?

3. of course they were going to have some affect
but it's important to have a long term strategy and to make sure kerry has enough money especially as we get closer to election time to respond to them.

11. Bush's ad's are working...
Otherwise why would kerry be behind? Bush has messed up everything he's touched and he can spin it all away because Kerry's pussy...(i'm voting for him anyway, so don't freak out) I just don't think he's being aggressive enough. Bush's ratings should be in the shitter.

13. well, ads cost money
bush has raised about 200 million, kerry has raised about 70 million. you want kerry to waste all the money now and risk not having anything near election time ? and kerry was behind for months before the iowa caucuses.

4. I know that in some cases, Kerry is better serving himself by hanging back
But he needs to issue a response. Bush is vulnerable and is taking hits constantly. He still manages to hit Kerry though. Kerry needs to start hitting back. Not too much but some. If he would hit back a little or at least promote himself as a real leader, Bush will continue to sink himself.

6. Bush has spent $50 million to achieve a statistical tie with Kerry
I'd say Kerry is doing fine...and it's April.

May (31).

June (30).

July (31).

August (31).

September (30).

October (31).

Najaf.

Falluja.

And this:

Bush doesn't win without women.

7. Without a doubt they are hurting
But, Bush* will have $300 million to spend in this election, so Kerry has to hold his fire as long as possible. Kerry should have about $125 million to spend overall. Hopefully, the race will stay nearly even after Bush* burns another $50 million. Then Kerry can fight him nearly dollar for dollar. The important point for Kerry will be the convention. He must define himself there and negate a lot of the mud Bush* has splattered on him.

This is going to be a tough race for us to win.

8. Welcome to the Rollercoaster ride...
I agree with Will, its only April. Half a year to go.

Besides, Zogby, in the Washington Post, stated that, while other pollsters had junior up by 5 or 6, his poll had Kerry + 3.

9. Kerry does not have the money to respond ad for ad.......
but he needs to pick his spots to run his ads. I think this might be a good time to put some hard-hitting ads of his own on the cable also. He needs to defend himself from Cheney's attacks, in my opinion.

14. If we could get the RW to discuss issues Kerry
will leap ahead. The ads are all like the administration distortions and lies.
