The "thank you to all those in D.C." appreciation thread
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 04:32 PM by DancingBear
We could not make it (due to me recovering from some recent surgery) but to see those kinds of crowd today was truly beautiful.

For all those from DU who made their presence known - give yourselves a big pat on the back.

You did good.

See you next time around.

1. Just hope the media gets the number right...

1,150,000 protestors.

13. Just read the CNN story
They are saying 100,000.

Do you believe it? One look at the photos, proves that number is ridiculous.

17. Coat Hangers,
hot mustard baths, back street abortionists; I remember them well and I remember when those were the only choices we had.

Reproductive freedom is between you and your God, not you and your government.

I financially support Planned Parenthood and will send an even larger donation this year.

Thanks to all of you; you have carried the torch of this old lady very well.

Kukesa

11. Good Idea, DancingBear. Thank you, D.C. Marchers.
Thank you for being courageous and speaking up at a time when some in power are trying to silence us.

Thank you for reaffirming the diversity of those who believe in supporting both women's and, for that matter, human rights.

Thank you for representing us.

12. You are very welcome
I couldn't stay much longer than the marching part but it was fun. We had a big cardboard cut out of Bush (I have no idea who brought it or where it came from) that was defaced and covered in stickers. LOTS of people stopped to take pictures of it or have people take pictures of them with it. There was a sticker on his crotch that said 'vasectomy prevents abortion' or something similar. Not surprisingly most counter protesters were men. Some people were chanting "hey hey, ho ho, when you get pregnant let me know' as we went by them. I'm tired now, I should probably go eat some Godiva chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream.

15. Thank you all for standing up and speaking out.
Thank you all for setting aside whatever differences you may have and coming together for a common cause.

Thank you all for making it clear that the war against women is part of a larger war against those who are not rich, white, male, straight, Christian, conservative, and Republican.

18. Thank You Marchers
It almost brought tears to my eyes when the camera showed the extent of the crowd.

Our side is fighting back.

There is hope.

Thanks to all

19. I just got home from DC. Amtrak had to add more trains!
There were easily twice as many people marching as there were for the last anti-war protest.
I'll post pics in a little while.
