Is Bush "playing politics" with the June 30th deadline in Iraq ?
The little fellow has painted himself into a corner, hasn't he? If he doesn't do something to withdraw our troops, in an honorable way, the continuing loss of lives may have an unfavorable impact on the election in November. He absolutely must not allow the casualty figures to continue. So, the idea is to say he is withdrawing the troops without really withdrawing the troops...

But, on the other hand, if there are further crisis situations that develop between now and election day, it will make Jr look like a strong leader and he will say, as Cheney said today, that we are so lucky to have Jr in charge instead of John Kerry. So the trick to keeping Jr up in the polls is to decrease the casualty numbers in Iraq but continue to press the issue about how lucky America is to have a strong and resolute leader in dangerous times such as these.

It's all about the election in November. The White House must try and put Iraq on the back burner on June 30th -and keep it there - until the election passes in November. Then they can pursue the strategy that is needed to win in the Middle East, and in the interim, promote their propaganda campaign of how great and strong Jr is as a Commander in Chief and how lucky we are that John Kerry is not in charge. That is my read of their present strategy. Of course, they are always ready to lie and change strategies as the wind blows....

1. YUP. Next question.
Iraqis will get a government that's all form and no substance, just in time for OUR election.

THEY AREN'T ALLOWED A LEGISLATURE.So they can vote only for the Iraqi equivalent of dog catcher, with veto of the U. S. over whom they select.

2. Bush will withdraw the troops to areas outside the cities....
But what impact will that have on violence that may flare up between the opposing groups? Will they then turn on each other and away from the Americans who are out of sight, more or less ??

4. Yeah
But, I don't think he will be able to ride this wild wave. Cross currents. Undertow. Unfortunately for us, our lifeguards are on the beach in force, and the Tsunami is fast approaching, threatening to flood us all.

6. Yes, reality will interfere with their plans, I am sure....
But they will always be ready to blame someone else for their shortcomings....

5. He has one big problem - he has to get a legi Iraqi government
to approve the sale of those oil fields. They can't be sold as long as the US is in charge. He needs them sold so the oil companies can contribute to the reelection campaign. Also, should there be a real miracle and he NOT get elected, it's probably Kerry just might be more concered about the Iraqis instead of the US oil companies. So June 30 gives him a little leeway to get the country sold.

And if you have any doubts, one of the sentences in the new Iraqi constitution says any contracts made with the US can't be undone. '

He sells the oil fields, gives the money to the Iraqis, probably in a trust, and it disappears. Leaving the Iraqis with what? No jobs, no future, and constant US control. Plus all that depleted uranium destroying their children. Gee, why would they want us there?
