If Kerry gets in there he needs to cut the corporate media down to size
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 03:50 AM by DaveSZ
Sadly I wonder if the media will even let him get elected.

I also wonder if he's going to be another corporate whore like Clinton (who deregulated the media in the first place and gave us this mess we're in now).

1. Was that a Clinton move?
Bad, bad idea. Maybe he's sorry after the way they went after him.

2. Clinton didn't start the deregulation. Reagan did.
Dear Ronnie is the elf responsible for infomercials. What a legacy.

Raygun started it, Clinton moved it along, and W finished the job.

4. sorry, I have to disagree.
I don't want anyone in govt. dictating to news media. It's a bad precedent, even if it's Kerry.

I have a feeling things will right themselves before long. Fox, the Washington Times, O'Reilly.....Hannity...more and more people are seeing through their masks....

Of course, it will take a nation of activists to see that things are turned around.

I do want to see a resurgence of investigative journalism.

I think we will...

6. I'm with you....
Gov't control is exactly what we DON'T want. The government pretty much sucks at almost everything they do....

7. Deregulation of Monopolies, not Media
Deregulation of monopolizing the media.

We're talking about monopolies- and preventing the development of one or two mega-media giants, which will only make things worse.

The airwaves belong to the people- NOT the media.

The government is charged to regulate that.

Instead, our property has become corporate property, in reality.

People are not served when a few entities control communications.

Did the people agree to corporate monopolies of their franchise?

Just another example of privitization of things that really belong to the public.

Stations are granted a license to broadcast. That license can be revoked. Stations don't own the airwaves, they rent them, in effect.

It's your property. Do you want corporate domination?

5. He should get a bill that in order for a program to called itself "News"..
they should actually offer news instead of idiotic fluff and commentary.
