Day 19 for hostage Matt Maupin
His convoy was attacked April 9.

Not much about him in the media.

Here's a story from his high school football coach:

Gary Denton, a Glen Este assistant football coach, told a Maupin story during a recent community prayer vigil at the high school.

It seems Maupin, playing defense on a kickoff return, made a bone-crunching tackle that flattened the opposing ballcarrier. Maupin's teammates and coaches greeted him with backslaps and high-fives.

"Most kids in that situation are really excited, but not Matt," Glen Este athletic director Dan Simmons said. "Coach Denton came up to him and said, 'hey, what about that hit?' Matt just said, 'That's what I'm supposed to do.' "

1. I've been worried that we've heard nothing about this young man...
since his capture -- not a peep from authorities, or even any press that I've seen.

2. He's not a hostage, dammit!
Sorry, Alpha, I'm not yelling at you. But this issue is a hot button for me, for no particular reason except that it's yet another stellar example of the bush* administration and lap-dog media refusing to call a thing what it is. Maupin is a PRISONER OF WAR. He is not a hostage, he was not kidnapped, he was captured in a military engagement.

It's like the whole "insurgent terrorist" thing. These people would have been called "the resistance" in any other war.

Grrrr!

3. The others on the video with him - some are now dead - it may not be
a piece of news that the family wants out. And until they ID a body - they do not know for certain.
