AAR Just playing music in Chicago?
Does anybody know what's going on? I tuned in today at 6:45AM Central and all WNTD is playing is music followed by announcements to go to the website and listen for the stream. I heard a Public Enemy song, another song I didn't recognize and then a Living Color song. Shouldn't Morning Sedition be on? Is there anybody else hearing this outside of Chicago?

1. I was just going to ask the same question.
Checked the AAR website and it says nothing. I want "Morning Sedition"! But now I must get ready for work and AM radio doesn't work in my building. Waaaaah!!!!

..station will be announced soon....and told folks to get AAR via the Web or satellite radio...

Extrememly disappointing, I LOVE "Morning Sedition" it always sets my day off on the right tone...

I really hope these guys get their shit together soon....I'm a hard-core lefty and even I am starting to get a little jaded about the whole thing....

7. Fear Not
These guys pulled the plug themselves, this time. After the contract dispute with Multicultural Radio, they decided to no longer do business with them.

Basically they got stolen from by Multicultural, and don't want to give them any more money.

12. Right, but we've
been hearing that the last day on 950 was supposed to be April 30. If it was going back to Multicutlrual programing, we'd be hearing some kind of asian language programing now. As it is, they play "hippy" music and make the web site announcement along with "AM 950, Chicago's home for Air America Radio." Sumptin's up.

9. This arose from a situation that wasn't AAR's fault...
so cut them a little slack...

14. I'm sympathetic, believe me...
... but I believe they should give us fair warning on this, have statements on the website... something.

There's a cloak of secrecy surrounding AAR, within AAR, by have very late press releases and a lack of content for the listeners on the website about what the company is doing. Hell, they could easily have a board like this one on the site just for listener questions and answers... a FAQ and a few other things considered, today, as "standard" elements for a website.

I think its very plain that many people want to get behind this, I do in the worst way, but it's hard to support it when AAR is on, then off, then on, then off early by AAR's own volition. Just when I get into a morning routine that includes AAR at home before I go to work, it's suddenly yanked out from me. I knew about the April 30 date, and I was hoping to have at least one more week of AAR in the morning.. win, loose , or draw. Now, I don't even have that.

I do cut them slack, but I'm pretty frustrated over here about this. I want to support the network, and their advitersiers... how can I when the main medium of the network (radio) isn't working?

8. Not Chicago, but...
What's up with the stream from KPOJ 620 in Portland? That's where I usually get my Morning Sedition and O'Franken Factor. I click on the link, and it just says 'stopped'?

I use them because it doesn't (unlike the AAR website, from what I can gather) require me to download RealPlayer. I hate to download stuff onto my computer at work.

11. Try WLIB's site in NYC
http://www.wlib.com/

Make sure you use Internet Explorer, and disable any pop-up blockers when you sit the URL. The actual site for the Station opens up in a separate, controlled browser window that's flash based, BUT there will a link to use Windows Media Player to listen the NY stream live.

Well, they seem to require Macromedia Flash just to bring up their site, which would also require me downloading something.:eyes:

17. No problem! Just doing my part...
... to help everyone I can to have the option to hear dissenting opinion in this country. With out dissenting opinion, our lives are under a dictatorship. That's the only thing that separates us from fascist regimes.

18. Totally Agree

It is such a shining example of the way this country has been taken over by a Fascist Regime! It makes me cry.
All we want to do is hear a liberal point of view and just read this thread as an example--we can not hear it!
With all the money and creative genius we have- we can't hear it!

Yet, when I turn on my radio in California, I can hear, VERY CLEARLY, Spanish language stations and religious services from small churches and sports shows of every description and a waste land of other people that are getting their message out.

What is the problem? It is as Hilliary so beautifully put it, "a vast right wing conspiracy."

All of the owners of the stations sre getting their marching orders from Hitler Rove and Hitler's assistant, Michael Power. It is a CONSPIRACY!

19. Give them a break...It's been 30 days just about, since March 31st
They are having growing pains. If anything, they need our support. Admittedly, they could do better communicating to the audience. But I take issue with the assertions of secrecy and so forth. Noboby is as bad as BushCo regarding secrecy.

Besides, Rush and Hannity were probably as bad as AAR when they started ten years or more ago. They've had time to grow. AAR must be allowed the same time.

20. I have no problem with the content what so ever!
I, also, have no problem with the technical difficulties. I have no problem with the professional foibles they make. I have no problem with the amount of advertising on the network.

I'm just bemoaning the fact that we listeners don't know what is going on with the consistency of the transmission in Chicago. We know the story of LA, I understand that the Internet stream will go up and down due to server load and bandwidth (I'm a systems administrator, I know well about the loads their servers are handling)

But they could say something on their website. That's where the hints of secrecy comes from. The WNTD transmission is down, before the April 30 date and nothing is said on AAR's page! Why not tell us? Why agree to sealing the NYSC decision. They want to go public about these right wingers and how they do "business", but with hold information about their own business.

Yeah, it's a minor point... but it makes all of us liberals look hypocritical when accusations of secrecy are levied against the right, and yet public representatives of the liberal movement with hold information. The right's response, predictably, will be a muddled regurgitation of throwing rocks and living in glass houses. And, frankly, I'm sick of that wrap.

Also, this lack of acknowledgment gets my tin-foil hat out of the closest because in absence of an official statement on this issue, I'm left to draw my own conclusions based off no information! How can I have a conclusion or opinion on AAR when there's very little data to base that on? I've been having thoughts like: "I wonder if there's some level of censorship here... the neocons seem to be trying to silence AAR by messing with the radio transmission." and "I'm having doubts about AAR's assertion that they have the start up cash to run for two years with out making a profit."

The whole thing pisses me off. With Multicultrial publicly questioning AAR's finances, Liu's wrong doing not withstanding, it reinforces the perception of the public that we liberals can't run a business. You know that's a crock, I know that's a crock, but does Joe American and Joe Neocon know it's a crock? I doubt it.

All I want to do is listen to AAR when I get the chance, and know why their service is intrupted when intruptions occur. Is that so hard to ask?

21. So nobody has heard anything on this?
That is, AAR's sudden disappearance from WNTD 4 days earlier than expected?
