One of CNN's top stories... Hughes challenging Kerry
I can't believe this is one of the top stories on cnn.com's homepage. Oh, wait, I can believe it. :eyes:

It's basically Karen Hughes challenging Kerry on his atrocities claim in '71 (like this hasn't been done to death already) during her interview with Wolf and then she and Wolf masturbate each other in their mutual hatred of Kerry.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/25/hughes.kerry.vietnam/index.html

Some quotes from Hughes:
"As someone whose father was over there fighting, I don't appreciate that. I resent that. I know my father was not guilty of any atrocities, and I really find that that's an irresponsible kind of charge to make."

"He only pretended to throw his (the medals). Now, I can understand if, out of conscience, you take a principled stand, and you would decide that you were so opposed to this that you would actually throw your medals. But to pretend to do so -- I think that's very revealing," she said.

You know, this has been done over and over again for 30 years. Even on MTP he answered. Why does the press keep giving it the spotlight? HE ANSWERED. HE APOLOGIZED for the wording! How many times does he need to answer?

There isn't anything more important that should go on the homepage than old news about Kerry?

1. Didn't this woman "leave" the White House?
If George W. Bush was caught on camera strangling a puppy to death, this Hughes would find a way to spin it to the satisfaction of the corporate media.

9. Unless it was before he was 40
Anything before that is considered irrelevant if it's about the Chimp.

10. I recall the "story" was about how horrible Democrats were
for "digging up" such a thing so close to the election.

15. you are right
they reported it as bush being a victim with democrats trying to bring him down even though the story was true. they did the same thing with arnold in california. called attacks or criticisms of arnold "dirty tricks" by democrats even though there was no proof it was dirty tricks and there was proof it was true.

17. Facts
From an old post (now long gone) by Crewleader on DU, who had LexisNexis access...

There were exactly 704 stories in the campaign about (the) flap of Gore inventing the Internet. There were only 13 stories about Bush failing to show up for his National Guard duty for a year. There were well over 1,000 stories -- Nexus stopped at 1,000 -- about Gore and the Buddhist temple. Only 12 about Bush being accused of insider trading at Harken Energy. There were 347 about Al Gore wearing earth tones, but only 10 about the fact that Dick Cheney did business with Iran and Iraq and Libya.

***

2,051 anti-Gore articles vs. 35 anti-Bush during the 2000 election cycle. Hmmm. Of course, the Gore articles were primarily about fluff versus what, for the case of GWB and Cheney, any open mind would equate to "high crimes and misdemeanors".

6. The DUI represented a blatant lie
that logically had people wondering what else was in Chimpy's closet of "youthful indiscretions."

This is nothing like that -- it's pure SMEAR.

7. What Bush DWI story?
The 'media' hid it until they had to show it, then covered it up as 'Partisan Politics' as quickly as they could... all the while trumpeting the RNC fax's on Gore's 'lies'...

11. The timing of the DWI story was susipicious.
November 2, 2000--Democratic Senators were preparing to make statements about Bush being AWOL from his "special" National Guard unit.

Surprise, surprise. The 1976 DWI story was released. But that was back when he was young & foolish. So partisan of the Democrats to bring it up; although they weren't the source for the story.

The AWOL story was de-emphasized, although it never really died.

Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 08:19 AM by Hubert Flottz
Did Wolf? Two wolves howling for the BOY who cries WOLF simply to scare people into voting for world slavery! The "New World Order" is the same slave labor idea as Hitler's "World Order"! The Bush family fortune was partly derived from slave labor in the Nazi concentration and death camps during WWII!(See BUSH IG FARBEN) The final solution to Wall Street's biggest problem(Labor Costs vs Mouths to Feed)is Poppy Bush's "New World Order", plan! When American slaves(taxpayers)make the same wages as the SLAVES in RED CHINA make, the jobs will trickle back home to save money on shipping charges! These people do not care about anything, but the "Bottom Line"!

The GOPer leadership wants to work you until you die in your tracks at work, like the SS did at the death camps! They'll steal the gold from our golden years and your frigging teeth too, if they can get away with it! It's ALL about money and population control, just EXACTLY like it was in Nazi Germany! They want ALL the fruits of OUR Labor for themselves!

this kind of thing actually is a very good sign.

It shows how absolutely desperate they are, they know they are losing and so they have to resort to this kind of bullshit.

16. This is what was done to Clark during the primaries, by both sides
Rove, CNN, the WH, Lieberman, and many of the other Dem
candidates had a real hoot:

"Clark are you a Republican?"
"Clark why did you vote for REAGAN?"
"Clark why did you flip-flop on Iraq war?"

"Clark are you a Republican?"

21. One of the oldest tricks in the prosecutorial handbook...
...keep the opponent answering to accusations. After a while, people begin thinking that since the opponent has had to answer to so many accusations, there must be something to those accusations, even if they are completely spurious.

next year. She taught him to drive after she "left" the White House. So he's in line to be cannon fodder if there's a draft.

22. We might as well get this out of the way now.
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 09:00 AM by Ilsa
I think a lot of the electorate isn't paying attention right now because it's too early. Now that we know the "charges" from the chickenhawks, Kerry can throw some other comments back in her face (and Shrub's) and turn the argument to his advantage, but the sooner, the better.

(On edit: we know they're going to do this bullshit, and we know the media is going to be complicit in it, so we might as well get it out of the way so we can start hammering on the Fraud's record.)

26. WHO THE F&%$ CARES? NOBODY THAT MATTERS!
This is ancient history, and is totally irrelevant to the current campaign. * is DESPERATE! If the *ies want to reduce the issues to a battle over which candidate served his country better during VietNam, I say BRING IT ON. We need to drag AWOL's sorry wartime history into the light of day and put it side by side Kerry's. Then have impartial military experts discuss each man's record IN DEPTH. And I don't mean a spin and run debate. Let's literally put the records on the table and compare, page by page. It's time to stop the rightwing slime machine. Kerry should consider suing CNN and MSNBC for libel.
