Time for the Fairness Doctrine yet ?
That is the public's only means to regulate corporate media. As I sit here this morning, I see a press spewing forth White House talking points against his opponent, disguised as news. It seems, from looking at the corporate media, that the entire world is against John Kerry and George Bush Jr can do no wrong.

How would htat change under the Fairness Doctrine? A candidate could raise $200 million, as Jr is about to do, but if he wanted to spend it on ads that attacked his opponent or on controversial issues, his opponent could ask for free time to counter the ads. The same rules would apply to both Repubs and Democrats. That is the basic definition of the Fairness Doctrine.

I have no idea why Bill Clinton did not appoint an FCC that would change those rules, but he didn't. If John Kerry can win the next election, that should be at the top of his agenda.

unfortunately, the very people who "like things the way they are" , are the ones who would have to vote to change it...and they will NEVER do it..

It's like asking a toddler to share his favorite toy with a kid he hates :(

Catch 22

3. 1-Hour rant yesterday morning......
My wife had to endure an hour-long rant from me yesterday morning after I causght just 2 minutes of that disgusting Karen Huges "interview" on CNN.

This is what we get when we let Republicans destroy the 4th Estate under the euphenism of "deregulation".

The Bushies have been brutally efficient in disguising propaganda as news, using government agencies as advertising/propaganda sources, and disguising their extreme right-wing agenda as harmless pablum.

:grr: :grr:

We need Democrats in the Whitehouse, Senate and House
