Some (possibly answerable) unanswered Bush National Guard questions

In talking with some military members and doing some research, a few questions have come up, and I can't find the documents I need on the web. I don't know if they haven't been published on the web, or if I'm just not using the right search terms. So I have a couple of military related as well as specifically Bush related questions.

Here are the questions...any help that anyone can offer would be much appreciated:

Are Direct Commissioned officers eligible for an Honorable Discharge without actively resigning their commission? I've heard some indication that in some branches of the service, only enlisted personnel are eligible for "honorable discharge".

Have Bush's actual discharge papers been released?

If so, does Bush have a SPN or SPD designation attached to his discharged, or a redacted portion of the paperwork that indicates that one may be blacked out? (The SPN and SPD designations were issued through 1974, and give a "flavor" to the discharge, indicating if there were any additional factors involved -- I'm sure this was "taken care of" one way or another, but I'm still wondering. These are available on DD-214. Bush probably has one, but what is it?)

And a rhetorical question: If honorable discharge in the Guard essentially means "they didn't get caught doing anything criminal, but could have been the worst soldier ever", how come reporters don't mention this in articles?

If anyone has some really good resources on the Bush National Guard stuff, from people who are looking into the really small, but relevant details like this, please let me know, especially if they have the FOIA docs. Thanks!
