Lester Holt is showing his pro-Bush bias.
He's almost gleefully hitting on this "controversy" as to whether Kerry threw his medals or his ribbons over the fence. I mean, who the fuck cares about that.

I can't stand Lester Holt. I couldn't stand him at WBBM-Channel 2 in Chicago and can't stand him now.

2. This is MSNBC's viewership!
Today's poll:

If the presidential election were held this week, who would you vote for? * 205718 responses George W. Bush
40%
John Kerry
56%
Ralph Nader
4%

WHY are they trashing Kerry? Here is MSNBC's phone number: 201-583-5000 -- ask for "viewer comment line." Or email. Let them hear from you. It can't hurt.

3. I think you're underestimating the importance of .
throwing away medals in the eyes of a huge number of people...add in the various statements Kerry has made about the event, and it starts to become newsworthy...

4.  Military says "medals" are ribbons - so word play - not newsworthy
This is one big GOP con that must be crushed.

Otherwise we will be back to media selling lies as in 2000.

13. idiots are claiming that Kerry lied because he threw ribbons, not medals
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 04:06 PM by librechik
as he said. (or maybe it' the other way around--either way it's not a distinction) What the idiots don't know is the two words are synonymous in army lingo. It just proves that they're craven jerks who will do ANYHING to smear Kerry.

And Lester goes happily along, not a care in the world. It's not HIS job to correct facts he knows are wrong. Not when the truth might hurt the Shrub, anyway!

14. they're not idiots...
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 04:08 PM by stopthegop
my point was that throwing either one will play badly with lots of people...and this version(s) of whose medals/ribbons they were is a problem...

18. The word "medal" is used for the ribbon im the military
The GOP is using the US Media to sell that Kerry - in using proper Military language - was a liar.

Kerry did not lie.

The GOP and US Media lie

so what's new?

:-)

10. ....in the eyes of most folks AWOL is a more cowardly act
than a war hero throwing away his medals.

15. In the long run it will play out that way
When the smoke clears the people will figure it out on their own when the real real hero stands up. And it certainly isn't junior.

12. My friend, there are lies and there are lies.
John Kerry's throwing his medals or ribbons over the fence didn't cause the deaths of 500+ servicemen and women...unlike the lies and lies and lies coming from Lester Holt's hero in the White House.

I am simply flabbergasted at this. Whatever Kerry did or didn't do with his medals/ribbons pale in absolute comparison to the impeachable lies coming from this President. But, if you have your bias and have a national audience, why not show it, eh?

8. Not many people, but I'm thinking they vote --
And there's a principle involved: fairness in media is long gone, but we shouldn't, in my opinion, give up the fight.

You can try finding another job.

It's that simple.

Hell, the CIA has an office on the main floor of the freaking building. EVERYTHING goes through that office first.
