When asked about the DRAFT, the White House said:

"That is just not something that's under consideration
at this time," Scott McClellan told the White House press corps on Thursday.
A draft "is not useful to do
at the present time," Rumsfeld told a meeting of newspaper editors earlier in the week.
"The president has said he will take the advice regarding the need for troops from the military commanders responsible for winning the war against terror," White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card said Monday, according to The Washington Post. "We have an all volunteer military in this country and it serves us very well.
I have heard no call from any of our military leaders for a return to the draft."

They ooze retractability. That the president does not have the revival of the draft under consideration "at this time" is about as reassuring as watching old tape of him saying he had "no war plans on my desk."

Not "at this time" but on April 1, 2005--after the SSS reports it is ready to start conscripting within 75 days--you can bet that Bush will ask for the current male-only DRAFT. NO NEW LAW IS NEEDED, JUST A TRIGGER RESOLUTION AND WHAMMO!
BUSH '04 = DRAFT '05
KERRY '04 = PNAC OUT THE DOOR!
(Kerry has pledged NO DRAFT and has a NO-DRAFT PLAN)
