The DRAFT - Rummy: "not at the present time", WH: "not at this time"
When asked about the DRAFT, the White House said:

http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-livit253771394apr25,0,1403914.column?coll=ny-news-columnists

-snip-

"That is just not something that's under consideration at this time," Scott McClellan told the White House press corps on Thursday.

A draft "is not useful to do at the present time," Rumsfeld told a meeting of newspaper editors earlier in the week.

"The president has said he will take the advice regarding the need for troops from the military commanders responsible for winning the war against terror," White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card said Monday, according to The Washington Post. "We have an all volunteer military in this country and it serves us very well. I have heard no call from any of our military leaders for a return to the draft."

-snip-

They ooze retractability. That the president does not have the revival of the draft under consideration "at this time" is about as reassuring as watching old tape of him saying he had "no war plans on my desk."

-snip-

Not "at this time" but on April 1, 2005--after the SSS reports it is ready to start conscripting within 75 days--you can bet that Bush will ask for the current male-only DRAFT. NO NEW LAW IS NEEDED, JUST A TRIGGER RESOLUTION AND WHAMMO!

BUSH '04 = DRAFT '05

KERRY '04 = PNAC OUT THE DOOR!
(Kerry has pledged NO DRAFT and has a NO-DRAFT PLAN)

Since WHEN have we been able to trust Bush on anything he says.
Its all retractable, good point.

Bush will have his draft just like they've planned all along. And ready and waiting will a plevy of unemployed high skilled techies ready to offer up their intellect and talents to Bush's draft.
"Outsourcing is GOOD for America."

Outsourcing has first and formost, secured the financial bank accts of Bush's corporate pals, while making available educated and skilled unemployed Americans, ripe for the picking.

Bush has said there will be need in the military for personnel with such skill levels.
Thanks for educating your sons and daughters in such useful fields. Its a job the military won't have to spend time and $$ doing. These young people are draft-ready.
