The good ole nickel
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 08:46 PM by freetobegay
Anyone notice that the back of the nickel has been changed? it no longer has Monticello on it. It now has the Louisiana purchase. Is this the begining of trying to take the nickel away from Jefferson? I know Jefferson has to do with the Louisiana purchase, but would it not be easier to change it to something else from the Louisiana purchase instead of Monticello?

Any opinions?

1. Lewis & Clark
we're coming up on the 200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase & the subsequent Lewis & Clark expedition. I suspect that's why the nickel was changed. :)

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - In April of this year, the U.S. Mint announced that it would redesign the five-cent coin, with a new nickel to be released in 2004. Today, the Mint unveiled designs for not one new nickel, but two.

5. Looks nice
I just hope they don't put Reagan on the dime like they have been talking about. That would be horrible
