So what exactly are we "handing over" on 30 June?
There's talk of our troops staying there for 3 to 5 years, I hear that Colon Bowell is saying that the troops will be conducting "business as usual" (hunting for Iraqi resistance fighters and getting killed and maimed in the process because Rumsferatu is too tight-assed to buy them the equipment they need)

So what exactly ARE we handing over?

Gotta get a puppet up and dancing so Cheney can get that SOFA treaty before the elections are supposed to happen (ours, not theirs), I guess....

1. We're handing over...
... Iraq, back to the Iraqi people... that big word I can't spell... sovereignty!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know!! They have no government, no economy, no police force, and no stable utilities. They don't even have a flag that everyone can agree on.

But finally, on June 30th... it'll be all theirs!

Lucky bastards....

2. We asked that question at the "news conference"
It was probably the only question Shrub answered with anything resembling honesty. It has yet to be determined.

I'm surprised we aren't hammering Bush on this. We're about to hand over the keys to Iraq in two months, and we haven't a clue who we're going to hand them over to.

3. Handing over?
We will hand "them" the responsibility of window dressing duties to maintain the facade of legitimacy.

5. Well, what we're NOT handing over:
Control over their military;

Power to make laws;

Freedom of speech;

The right to change the laws made by the current puppet government;

Control over foreign ownership of Iraqi assets;

Control over expatriation of profits by foreign owners of Iraqi assets;

An elected government;

Control over our 14 military bases (under construction).

What am I forgetting? Also, there's talk that our troops may be there for DECADES. The bases certainly suggest that. How many troops does ONE base support?

6. We are handing over the "ceremonial keys to the city".....nothing more.
The whole thing is symbollic and once the population understands that..if they don't already...things will get much worse.

Maybe Negroponte will meet his match as ambassador of the biggest embassy in the world.

The Iraqis will be lucky to get veto power over public library acquisitions.

from the hypermorons!

"Limited Sovereignty". It would be funny if it weren't so sinister!

10. We're handing over the blame
The Chimp & Co. will then be able to pass responsibility off to somebody else when things continue to spiral downward.

12. nothing of substance
this whole issue is a chimera.

The bushgang and their Vichy co-conspirators will still call the shots, the US military will still be making things worse in Iraq, the "reconstruction" billions will still flow to Halliburton, peace will still be less and less likely with each passing day.

Just what the neocons want.

That's how Bush can so adamantly claim he's sticking to the June 30 deadline, because it's not like we'll be handing over, you know, actual home rule or anything.

edit: damn commas

Maybe Lance Armstrong can get sponsorship from the Iraqi Postal Service, "A Unit of the USPS"...
