John Negroponte... isn't he the one?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 11:33 AM by Flubadubya
First of all, he was one of the criminal players from Watergate, but didn't he fairly recently head up some division of the Pentagon or something wherein he started a "futures" type scam (with a website and all) for basically taking "bets" on decisions that were being made in Iraq and what the outcomes would be?

This nefarious little "capitalistic venture" garnered enough negative attention that he was forced to shut down the website and step down from his position.

Isn't all this stuff true, or did I just dream it up?

And NOW... they're sending the little criminal over to run things in Iraq, right?

Is there no low that is TOO low for these cockroaches to go?

And to top it off... has anyone heard a "disparaging word" from the MEDIA about this appointment? This little scam he was trying to run wasn't even all that long ago.

Oh, the Orwellian irony of it all!!! :puke: :grr:

ON EDIT: It was Poindexter I was thinking of, not Negroponte. So hard to keep the criminals straight in my mind. Sorry.

2. Iran Contra & Honduras
John Dimitri Negroponte has been the United States ambassador to the United Nations since September 2001. He is a career diplomat who served in the US Foreign Service from 1960 to 1997. On April 19, 2004, Negroponte was nominated by US President George W. Bush to be US ambassador to Iraq after the June 30 handover.

His appointment to the UN post was a controversial one because of his involvement in covert funding of the Contras and his covering up of human rights abuses in Honduras in the 1980s. He is seen by many as a terrorist sponsor for supporting the Contra insurgency against the left wing Sandinistas, the first ever democratically elected government of Nicaragua. He is also acused of inciting Contra attacks on civilians.

5. Oh, yeah. He's the one. Read this:
http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?ItemID=16773

~snip~

"Meanwhile, back in the real world, the administration has announced its intention to make John Negroponte our first ambassador to postwar Iraq, to take up residence in what will be the world's largest embassy after June 30. Negroponte was one of the key figures in the Iran-Contra scandal, the cockeyed plot that sold American arms to Iran and used the money to finance an illegal war in Nicaragua. So, our first ambassador will be a man who armed Iraq's enemy during that war.

"Negroponte speaks no Arabic, he is a specialist in covert operations in Latin America, and he has no Middle East experience aside from the Iran-Contra insanity. He is, however, a bona fide, certified, chicken-fried neo-con. Is anyone else appalled?

"I find this appointment terrifying, and it leaves me afraid the administration is contemplating something I have heretofore dismissed as a loony-left conspiracy theory. Could it possibly consider handing over Iraqi sovereignty on June 30 to any combination of Iraqis that includes Ahmad Chalabi? Chalabi is the convicted crook, demonstrated liar, purveyor of false intelligence and con man who so charmed Dick Cheney and the other neo-con hawks that they still half-believe him. He is now on the Iraqi Governing Council, earning an enviable reputation for corruption."

And his imfamous Policy Analysis Market.

John Negroponte was resposible for the training and arming of death squads in South America through the despicable School of the Americas.

Both charming fellows

11. Did anyone else watch the confirmation
hearings this morning of John Negroponte before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee? There were disruptors there. I couldn't understand what the female was saying, but the male said something like this: Senators, Senators, please ask him about the death squads in Honduras, which he backed. Then later, when Russ Feingold was asking Negroponte about backing human rights, C-Span switched in mid-sentence to the House proceedings. Dang!
