Where would you donate money to defeat Bush if you had unlimited funds?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 02:11 PM by magnoliamouth
In what order would you donate money to defeat Bush if you had a lot of money? And how much can you donate to each?

Kerry for President: $2000, right?
DNC: $2000, right?
Swing state Democratic parties: how much?
Moveon.org: how much?

who else and how much???

Can you donate to a state party if you don't live in that state?

How about to congressional candidates not from your state/district?

1. $2,000 to Kerry.
$2,000 to all Democratic Sentators up for Election this year.

$25,000 to both the DSCC and DCCC.

I'd flood my state party with millions!

$10-20 million to moveon.org and ACT!

Take out some billboards against Bush.

4. Unlimited funds?
Havocdad and I have had this discussion and first off, we would buy small apartment complexes in a college town and make sure good kids struggling to put themselves thru school got a REALLY GOOD DEAL on decent housing. Rent breaks for good grades on top of the basic good deal we would give them. And a big barbecue after each semester to celebrate and brag about accomplishments. My daughter lived in such a place once and it was wonderful. They guy who owned it was just so kind and good to the kids. He bought a rec. room full of computers back before everyone could afford their own so the kids could access them.

Throw a lot of $$ to Planned Parenthood

Make sure some deserving elementary schools had funds for arts

Make sure the local shelter for battered women had good resources and a mentoring program to get the clients a good start toward self sufficiency.

Check$ up to the limit for progressive candidates in areas where we can take the most seats (and including local school board elections, I have had it with the fundie takeover of schools)

Grants for elementary school libraries. Have any of you seen one lately? Most are in sad, sad shape.

Piece of land to open a shelter where abused critters can live out their days in peace and security.

$$ to advertise the evil deeds done by corporatists and the congress critters who let them get away with it.

8. I would purchase Fox News
Oh hell yeah! the freeps will be so confused to hear actual fair and balanced news. I bet their heads would explode!

Of course you may donate to whoever you want. I expect liberals from all states to help out Joe Hoeffel in PA so we can take back the US Senate.

And I would also donate to the organizations in the original post.

9. if the funds were truly unlimited. . .
I'd rent the Hollywood Bowl or perhaps the Griffith Theatre for All Hallow's Eve. Book every progressive artist I could think of and have a live simulcast on a major network. Dedicate the event and all the proceeds to all the fallen soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families and interperse great speakers with fantastic music. Like Live Aid, the show should go on for hours if not right up to the election. Encourage people to vote and hammer home what is at stake. Give the Pugs no time for rebuttal.

11. Kucinich
Bush and his ilk will not be defeated by a Democratic victory in the presidential race in 2004.

The neofascists and imperialists wield great power.

More is needed than defeating the simianfacedidiot in 2004.

Kucinich has the message.

www.kucinich.us

Don't forget Andy Stephenson for Secretary of State in Washington.

I do believe that you can donate to candidates not running in your state.

15. *
Before you go nuts, just think about it. If I was a big time democratic doner and started pouring money into * campaign, and was very public about it, much of his base would start to question him more than they are now. I'd go out and make the most ridiculous statements possible, in hopes of making * look even worse to his own party. I'd run ads like "Vote for George Bush, he'll fix the housing problem by sending your children overseas" and "Vote for George Bush, who needs a prosperous economy anyway". Look what's happening to Arlen Spector in PA with the Soros money he got. He may lose in the primaries... Just a thought.

12. ask Dean and Move on And American coming together
for local races in other states ask Dean, moveon.org and I believe it is america coming together....america something...links on other site....

They know which local races have progressives running who need monetary help ....contact them as a start.....you want to pick the right races in the right states where it will make a difference.

Picking senate races where we Dems can win some seats or putting a candidate up where there is no one running against a repub....we need to win the house and senate to have a chance with any president in getting a progressive agenda passed and bringing us back to the 20th century...

Finding the right people to help you pick the right races ....check with George Soros tooo....

Paul Neuman gave $25,000 to moveon.org

16. I'd buy a TV network
All liberal, all the time, opposite FOX, starring/featuring:

Molly Ivins
Joe Conason
Gene Lyons
Paul Krugman
Norman Solomon
The Jersey Girls
Robert Scheer
The Dixie Chicks
Bill Clinton
Richard Clarke
Kevin Phillips
Craig Unger
Joe Wilson
Robert Byrd
Edward Kennedy
Helen Thomas
Derrick Z. Jackson
Al Sharpton
Dennis Kucinich
Chris Rock
Martin Sheen
Cameron Manheim
Ashley Judd
Tyne Daly
Cybill Shepherd
Amy Brenneman
Christine Lahti ...

No wimpocrats, no republicrats. This network would define the repukes, define the message, and defy the rightwing. It would call CNN, NBC (and all its iterations), ABC, CBS to task for their warmongering, Bush-fellating hypocrisy. It would show the other side of the coin --- the blowback of American foreign policy that has led us to this point. It would show world events from American AND non-American perspectives. It would be a friggin eye-opener.

You said UNLIMITED resources ... I can dream, can't I?!

17. I would do this too. Though I would have Pat Buchannan as the...
"symbolic conservative" on the network. You know, he's a right winger but he supports workers rights, opposed the war in Iraq, and has not to nice towards *.

I'd have a morning show hosted by Mike Malloy and Chuck D.
