Fallujah is on fire and I may lose a kid and everything else
Michael is only a few miles from Fallujah...I just found out today I can only make 13,000 dollars a year, and my husband is about to die inside from worry
I spent so much trying to call Congress and Senators and work to get Michael out of Iraq, and I cant spend any more. I used up so much of our savings.
I even emailed my mother and told her she has to move out of the house we built her, when she can, because I cant afford the taxes anymore.
I am wondering if we qualify for food stamps at 13,000 a year.
I am eating up my savings, our kid could die in Iraq, and I am so tired.
I am trying to think logically.
If anyone out there knows of any decent jobs , in SW Michigan, for a 52 yr old woman who is really smart and I can do ANY job, please PM me...
I desperately need a job, I depserately need some help with getting one.
Im sorry I ranted, but I am afraid I am going to lose it soon if I dont have some monies coming in.
I feel like Ive been fighting the world and its not working. I cant keep spending all this money to stop this war, I am in bad shape.

2. Mari, I can offer my prayers...
I wish I had more to offer, but I don't. As far as the money you are spending trying to stop the war, if you need to curtail that to keep yourselves going, then do it. Many of the rest of us are fighting and trying, and will keep on doing it.

Nobody can survive under such constant stress and worry, and you have had your fill of it. I pray that somebody in your area will come through in offering you a job, and that you and your family will get through all this.

My thoughts are with you.

4. Mari, I'm soo sorry you're going through this!
O8)I'm praying for your step-son every day, as well as you and your husband.O8) This is so tragic, and I, too am SOOOOOO ANGRY!!!

This whole thing in Falluja is so absolutely horrific. It's a nightmare to any person with any feelings, and a brain that actually "thinks".

George Bush is a nightmare to any person with feelings, and a brain that actually thinks!

But the situation of suffering here, state-side, is also horrible. I just don't know where to turn anymore, except DU. When insanity is not only our international diplomatic policy, but our domestic policy, I don't know what else to say.

I wish your step-son could just catch a plane and come home. I wish you could find a job with a great Democratic boss/company that pays benefits and leaves you glad you went to work at the end of the day.

((((((((BIG HUG, HONEY!)))))))) Take a deep breath, and take a hot bubble bath....candles, glass of wine. Have a good cry, and throw a sponge or two.

Then pull yourself up, and focus on the outcomes you're wishing for.

I wish there was something I could do to help.

:pals: Hang in there!

Sue

6. Mari, I'll be praying for you all
Your family is going through a heck of a time, I know. I think of you all whenever I hear abt reports of skirmishes in Iraq.

I hope your youngest son is doing better since last we spoke.

*hugs*

But I don't know anyone in MI.

You hav my thoughts, hopes and prayers, though.

Good luck, Mari. Be strong and I know that you and your husband and son will weather this storm.

8. As far as food stamps go, check out the state's web site
Look for the on-line manuals, and look it up under the "Program Eligibility Manual". If you don't have any kids under 18, you probably aren't eligible, but you never know.

My little sister is unemployed in Holland-the job market seems particularly slow on the West coast of Michigan. Luckily, her husband is employed and she is now selling Avon and doing okay with it. There could be summer job opportunities-stadiums for minor league baseball teams might be hiring in Grand Rapids, Muskegon, or South Bend, IN, depending on where you live in SW Michigan. Does K-zoo have a team?

As far as your son goes, I hope and pray that this bombing in Fallujah is not something that is involving fire directed at the troops, and that innocent civilians are not killed or injured. That's about all any of us can do before November.

9. Dear Mari
Do you have a good emotional and spiritual support network to get you thru this trying period?
I recommend highly the words of Caroline Myss, such as "Anatomy of the Spirit" to begin with, which is one of her earlier pieces. If you use online sources I would suggest her website www.myss.com which has lots and lots of info as well as discussion forums where loving people volunteer insight and support. May grace, love, and strength be with you.

10. Are you open to moving?
You will probably be able to get a better response if you were open to moving outside of Michigan.

11. Mari, I wish I had more than kind words to offer you right now...
Unfortunately, that's all I can offer for the moment. It would be rather senseless for me to try and tell you to "relax", considering what you have been going through.

I guess the only thing I can say is that you and your husband being consumed with worry and grief is not going to do anything for Michael. And it won't do anything for you, either. I know that you have a dog in this fight, and that you personally have taken a great burden upon your own shoulders in trying to get Michael brought home. All I can suggest is that you try and link up with people in your area -- not over the internet, but people you can meet face-to-face -- from the BTHN network.

In any case, my prayers are with you and with Michael, in hopes that he comes through all of this OK.

12. An Idea?
Hi Mari,

I'm new here but have read some of your posts about your son. I'm sorry, for you...for your husband...and mostly for your son.

As far as extra money...I don't know if this will work for you but I sell stuff on ebay for extra money. If you are interested in this idea please email me....I'd be happy to share what I know with you!

Cheers,
Kim
