WTF!? I have recieved a letter from The Republican National Committee |
|
Enclosed with this filth is a "Republican Party Census Document". But the catcher is the letter:
Dear Fellow Republican,
You are among a select group of Republicans who have been chosen to take part in the official CENSUS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. Enclosed is your GOP CENSUS DOCUMENT which was assigned and prepared especially for you as a representative of all Republicans living in your voting district.
Registration #: 2380-2004GC
Voting District Code: ID43-13
and it goes on and on from there. First...I have NEVER voted for a Republican in my entire life! Now how in the hell would I be singled out? I did fill out the document enclosed with this pornographic letter...opposite everything they would expect you to say...but I'm leary about sending it in! I thought about wiping my ass on it and sending it in, but I have more respect for the postal servive than that! Perhaps I could do that and drop it off at Republican Headquarters here in town...then run like hell! Did anyone else here recieve anything like this? WHY ME???

1. Did it come with a prepaid return envelope? |
|
If it did, do like I do when I get unsolicited junk mail. I fill the envelope with all my other junk mail (as long as my name isn't on any of it) or condom wrappers, safe sex brochures etc. Then I drop it in the mail box. It has to be delivered because it is metered and of course they have to pay for it. I believe the heavier it is, the more they pay. I have heard of people filling boxes with crap and attaching the return envelope to it, but I don't know if that will fly.

3. The "Census" reference disturbs me. |
|
It's sleazy to use an official government term to confuse people. I suspect that they want to hear from everyone in your voting district so they can plan how to cheat. If you respond angrily, they will know that you plan to vote Dem. They're trying to find out who's with them or against them (or who doesn't give a damn).

8. That's exactly what I thought... |
|
or perhaps they would see to it that I wouldn't be able to vote! AND...my neighbor to the west of me is a big wig locally with the Repuke Party...and he knows my feelings! We do not speak to one another! Now get this...the envelope to send it back in is pre-paid BUT...in the upper left hand corner it says..."By using your own first class stamp to return this envelope, you will be helping us save much needed funds.----Thank you." UNBELIEVEABLE!!

4. I got one too last week. |
|
I can't imagine why.
I filled mine out totally honestly. The last question where you tick off how much you're going to send them OR select, "No, I prefer to elect liberal democrats...", I ticked the NO part.
Mailed it back to them at their expense. I thought that would get me off their list.
Then TODAY, I get a big 8 X 10 of his chimpness! It thanks me for being a "grassroots" supporter. I think the chimp's gettin' liquored up again. I think I'll keep the picture and file it away. In the Bush economy, I may have to trade it for food or medicine or something I need. ;)

My sister got that 'personalized' glossy photo of the chimp yesterday and called me about it, totally grossed out.
Everyone in her household is a registered Democrat, and she has no idea why the RNC would be peddling that obscene smut to her. Anyway, she's going to draw horns and a moustache on Bush* and mail it back in their prepaid envelope. At least they'll take her off of their damn mailing list.

She already has something of the sort...it's like an 18 inch Bush* plastic figure - when you push a button at the base of it, his head swivels and he says one of his dumbass quotes ("is our children learning?"). There are lots of illiterate Bush* quotations, so whenever she feels enraged by the idiot, she hits the button. Almost better than a dartboard.

5. I'm beginning to wonder if they didn't hack the Dems list |
|
You're not the first person that has said they received a letter like this. I really, really, am beginning to think the stole the list somehow from the Dems. BTW, as a Democrat, have you (in the past) given financial support? Maybe they're targeting people who have given in the past.
I don't know...the whole damned thing is crazy!

6. As a rule fundraising letters for both parties are sent out to people |
|
who have been identified as voting for or likely to vote for that party.
Perhaps you answered a question on survey once that led them to think you might lean their way (this happened to my mother). Or, maybe this is the kind of potentially expensive error that happens when you outsource work to another country where the folks doing your work may have gotton the "mail to" and "don't mail to" lists confused.

22. They were completely biased questions. |
|
I don't remember any specifics, but (big suprise!) they were all leading.
I don't think they were really interested in the answers. I imagine them just tearing them open, taking the check out, and throwing them away. It was a fundraiser disguised as a census. My opinion was supposed to shape the RNC for the coming election cycle. This feeling of "involvement" is supposed to make me want to contribute.

Sometimes I send it back requesting more information so that they run up expenses. Other times I write a hand written note saying something to the effect that "This Republican sure won't be voting for Bush this time around".
Its psyops!

21. I did that when we got the same thing. |
|
The woman I talked to just laughed, said that's what they (Republicans) do.
Judging from the numerous mailings and lovely (hack) photos we've received, the RNC is spending a fortune trying to drum up support. The last picture came just yesterday, showing Bush writing at his desk. I swear he had an actual chimp face going on -- lips in the "ooh ooh" pursing. That party can't even pick a decent loser.

|
and I am not even registered to vote at the address where I currently live (I vote absentee in another state). So don't sweat it. If you have a subscription to a financial magazine (Money, Bus. Week, etc.) you have a good shot at getting RNC mail. I actually got a picture of Bush last week and a Bush Cheney 04 membership card. I am so very proud!

17. after what i've read about amway + rnc = BC04 |
|
this kind of screw up makes sense. i used to think that it had to due with BBV, as in, they've already got and changed local lists of registered dems to rethus in anticipation of phony BBV totals, but now i think this is more about some mid-level flunky trying to "prove" his "effectiveness" with a list of "bush supporters" who have "given" to the RNC as a result of these mailings.
lots of enron style managment could make this happen, and they wouldn't even care (nor should they with the money they have) that it costs them a few stamps.
