9. I thought I was going crazy

Everything I'd been brought up to believe in -- being decent to other people, having compassion for people on hard times, fairness to everyone despite race, creed, sex, etc., honesty in scientific inquiry, honoring our Constitution -- was threatened, and no one seemed to care.

Finally, I found DU and other people who knew what was right and what was wrong. It saved my sanity.
