How will Kerry respond to the action in Falujah??? |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 07:27 PM by Gloria
Whatever it is, whenever it is....it damned well better be on the same page as what Clark was saying on Hardball last Friday. If Clark is truly his surrogate, the message better be consistent.
Clark said that Americans would go into Falujah...but, hopefully not with 3,000 troops. A division would be needed to do a house to house search for "insurgents." He decried any wholesale bombing that would inflict unnecessary harm on innocent civilians.
This is an important argument that shouldn't be glossed over. Because it emphasizes the lack of troops to do the job without mass slaughter. And, of course, as Clark said, this sort of action creates thousands more anti-American fighters who are pouring into Iraq to fight.
This whole action is should be a major point of contention, both for its immediate ugliness AND the long term ramifications, as expressed by Clark.

16. Saw a film about Holland in a class I'm taking for fun |

and I came to conclusion that it might be heaven on earth or at least the country we all want America to be. European once came to the new world for freedom and opportunity -- we might have to return to Europe for sanity!

11. Kerry is the alternative to bush |
|
And a good candidate. Kucinich is a nut. Dean was a great candidate, but the voters decided that he wasn't their choice overall.
Kerry is tough and has shown leadership in harrowing circumstances that most people wouldn't survive and has come out a stronger person. I would trust him with our defense and to make the right decisions. The congress was lied to about the reasons for going to war just like the public was. We need Kerry in their to make the right decisions to get us out of this mess with the help of other countries. I just hope its not too late, because recent reports tonight are showing that Fallujah is being bombed as we speak.

7. I am no strategist, but |
|
If I were, I would pull back from Falluja, maintain all points of entry into the city, and leave it until Iraq troops were well enough trained to enter. I would try to contain it without inciting more attacks. This could take months, but what is the hurry to die?
Something else would be to encourage Iraqi aid groups to bring in aid, medicines etc into city. These transports would all be inspected prior to entry.
There would be no vehicles allowed to leave. All exits would be on foot, and I would negotiate safe transportation from a ckeckpoint.
Cumbersome yes, but get the troops out of the city. They are only inciting more violence with their presence, and it gives the occupation a very very ugly appeal.

13. Kerry would have never invaded Falluja |
|
....because he would've never invaded Iraq.
Kerry can't come out and say it, but he will bring our troops home ASAP. Why can't he say it? Because the sheeple desire war. Ya see, the sheeple's votes are needed if Kerry is ever going to be elected.
Kerry's words about *'s invasion are carefully chosen to keep the mad dog rove from attacking. So far, so good.
Kerry can't come out and say it, but I can. Bring our troops home. Now.

15. He should stay silent on Fallujah |
|
and only respond when asked specifically. Then I think he should say he isn't there to assess the situation but to be too heavy handed could backfire.
