The new Newsweek's center fold is....
2 full pages of the flag drapped coffins loaded for their flight home from the quagmire with comments about their lack of armor. Enjoy chimp, you facist, lying little chickenhawk prick.

1. "It is disrespectful to show the war dead in their flag covered caskets...
but it is perfectly fine to show a NYC firefighter in his flag covered casket if it is in one of their campaign commercials."

Despicable.

3. "flag covered casket"
???

did NEWSWEEK print that?

there were no 'caskets' removed from Ground Zero, just stretchers with flag-covered remains.

and, depending on when that shot was taken, there is NO guarantee it was the remains of a firefighter.

they did that *at first* but then showed the same respect for ALL remains removed from the site.

4. Except that there were no coffins at ground zero...
and the fire fighters in that ad were paid actors.

Totally staged for the ad... because 9/11 just wasn't dramatic enough for a Bush/Cheney re-elect ad.

5. to clarify...
the film of the stretcher was real

'fake' firefighters were used elsewhere in that ad, or in another one.

2. ABC Nightline is going to read the names of the dead on Friday
and now this? Encouraging--maybe the mainstream media is waking up.

6. Let us hope so Rock
The bottom line (imho) is that this story is a sure thing to attrack "rubber-neckers". Kinda like Courtney Love, Jacko & Paris Hilton. Atleast it grabs some publicity for a real issue... Please donate to JK. & for all you "starless DUers", SUPPORT this forum, please.

7. Good for Newsweek. They pioneered pictures like that during
Vietnam, and it was the first time many realized how many were dying. It also led to a revolution in news organizations, which was never completed, but it may start up again.
Let's hope.
