:wtf:

Thanks to ParanoidPat for pointing this out in another thread. I figured it could use a thread of it's own, since the other one is pretty long already.

It's sealed. Still, despite my darkest fears, I will urge everyone I know to vote. They can't fix it if the opposition is overwhelming, right?

4. Click refresh continuously
The 'Statewide voting districts currently reporting' keeps changing with every click. It seems like a random number generator.

6. What really bothers me is the 95,000 vote 'mistake' in Bucks County.....
.....From this thread.

That accounts for about half of the people who voted overall in that county!
How can anyone report a mistake that large and not notice?

Bucks County

18. Oh right! The same state web site ...
... with the random number generator! Actually someone should go through each of the county election websites and compare their counts against the state web counts. At least in Bucks County, there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between what the county reported and what the state is reporting!

At the end of the day, I wonder how many news outlets were pulling their election results off the State website in error!

BTW: Seems that the state also fixed their little problem with the random number generator.

just got 592.65% reporting on the Senator's race last updated at 04:20:56pm

Ya just gotta wonder where they got/put all those extra votes.

You'd also think that by now they'd have a line on the website saying something like

"We'd like to count on you for your support in these troubled times .....but...
...... we can't figure our how to count anything at all"

9. The % changes, but the vote counts don't.
Screwy... By the way, it changes on the 'by county' page also.
Here: http://web.dos.state.pa.us/perl/elections/elec_results/dsf/county2.cgi?eyear=2004&etype=P&office=USS

When you first go to the page, it displays 84.03%. Hit refresh, and it doubles to 168.06%.

Iteration Percentage
1 84.03
2 168.06
3 252.10
4 336.13
5 504.19

After that, it started jumping around the numbers above.

It seems somebody wrote their script with a little 'bug' in it.

This needs to be checked out in a little more detail. The PA election officials need to be asked for a comment about how safe they feel about their new toys after they have their noses rubbed in this. :)

27. Ahh, but it's not the voting machines.....
All you academic theorists and computer gurus need to understand that the voting machines are used in the context of an established election process - with skilled and experienced election officials, who have been managing elections for years, with processes and procedures and check and balances and such to ensure that the will of the people is properly and accurately recorded, and to maintain and ensure the integrity of the election process.

Yada, yada, yada .......yeah, right!

<RANT>
Seems to me that the experienced Pennsylvania Election Officials who try to pass-off this nonsence to the public need to tabulate their years of experience, skills, processes, procedures, checks and balances onto a piece of paper called a resume, and start looking for a new line of work - preferably one that does not involve numbers.

They must be taking their cue from the manufacturers of the equipment.
Hey - Election Officials - your systems should be tested BEFORE an election - not during an election. A Primary is NOT a dry run to see if the neat new 'features' that someone wrote actually work. Even us unskilled academic/computer theorists who haven't worked an election, nor examined your checks and balances, know that election results over 100% are flawed. Perhaps you can put THAT into your context.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....................
</RANT>

I'm still waiting for them to acknowledge this on their website.
Something like the following should do nicely..
"We'd like to count on you for your support in these troubled times .....but...
...... we can't figure our how to count anything at all"

Oddly enough, several counties that the State shows as being incomplete, show themselves as being complete.
