Some things I observed about tonights Specter- Toomey debate
tonight. Some of us wanted to see Toomey win tonight- thinking he would be easier to beat than Specter in the general election. The Democratic candidate would have likely picked up many of the Specter voters. The right wing can be conivnced to support Specter in the general. Bush will now go to Penn more to help the state stay in Specter's hand and this could help Bush as well with the state. Specter still has his senate seat where he could be affored the opportunity to toss the right a couple bone before November because the GOP controls the Senate.

People keep ponitng to Rick Santorum: If he could win, Toomey could win they claim; possible yes- but highly unlikely.
About Santorum.
He was only recently discovered to be a right winger, by many because of his remarks on gays regarding the sodomy laws. He was much quieter as freshman senator than he is now.
Also many people from Penn can tell you he did not have the best opponents from the Democratic Party. Guys named Wofer and Klink.
AL Gore won the state in 2000 the same year Santorum was reelected.
This means Penn voters did not know as much about Santorum as they do now.
