Since Shrub & Cheney won't allow transcripts |
|
or recordings, or video tape, do you think someone might try to sneak a tape recorder or wear a wire when Cheney does his puppet act? Do you think the Secret Service will "Frisk" the committee members before they can interview?

2. Those "secret" rooms have very sophisticated equipment |

that will prevent taping or use of "hidden stuff"..
He should not be ALLOWED to testify privately.. We had to endure public testimony from Clinton..about really awful things that had NO connection to the government, yet 3000 people die on his watch, and we don't get to hear from him :(

I remember when President Clinton was going to testify and the testimony was supposed to be done in private - lo and behold, a few hours later transcripts and tapes of the testimony were on the air.
How about if somebody who knows shorthand takes notes?

pencils or paper? sheesh
Prediction: they won't say anything coherent. Some panelists will use their interpretive "skills" to hear what they want to. Others will remain baffled. Albert and Costello will maintain that they explained everything clearly and there should be no doubt that they are totally harmless.
I think all testimonies in this case should be video taped. Some people DO care about history.
Which brings to mind, this little mathematical mis-equation ... When asked how history would view him, whoosh says, "we'll be dead". OTOH, his stated mission in life is to lead a crusade of a so-called democracy revival (hah) throughout out the whole world, and possibly mars.
When you consider both statements, am I the only one that gets the feeling he isn't too hopeful about his mission? When history is written, he doesn't imagine they will write that HE started the world wide democratic free liberation movement? hmmm .. Makes me wonder what he's really got planned for "history". It won't be on video.

Commissioners are allowed to take notes. This is actually fairly standard for these private meetings with testimony not given under oath. It sucks, but it's normal.

6. Anybody know if a transcript was made of Clinton's testimony? |
|
If so, where are the Dem members of the commission on this?

7. On CBS News...last night? |
|
They described the upcoming "testimony". Not under oath, in the White House, hand-n-hand with Cheney--the whole sorry mess.
Apparently, historians were angry because no transcript would be made of this historical event--handwritten notes only. The Republicans answered that no transcript had been made of Clinton's appearance, either.
The Democratic answer: Clinton's appearance was taped. A transcript is being prepared.

9. A string attached to the bottom of a Dixie cup |

going through a hole drilled in the table underneath to another room and another Dixie cup with a recording device next to it, out of range of detectors and jammers.
Better yet just have Woodward quiz the buffoon about what happened and listen to the braggart spill his guts. Pretzel stuck in Deep Throat.
There won't be much substance with all the ground rules. Only the humiliating details of the "performance" are censored from an increasingly hostile public.
Unless their interrogation was held in Gitmo it wouldn't do justice to the need to know.

10. this won't be the last time they appear before the commission... |
|
Rice testified in private and then was forced to testify publicly. Wait till members of the commission say that their testimony was contradictory and that they need them to go on record under oath in order to resolve the discrepancies.
