Giuliani has been reduced to a corporate mouthpiece
April 28, 2004
BY MARK BROWN SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST
In one of our nation's darkest hours, Rudy Giuliani was a rock. With the national psyche dazed in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the New York City mayor gained our respect by responding to the crisis with poise, strength, resolve and common sense.
Until then just another New York politician with an uneven track record, Giuliani established himself almost overnight as a legitimate American hero.
So what was our hero doing in town Monday pimping for the big drug companies and squandering his well-earned credibility by spreading scare talk about the dangers of imported medicines?
Just making a buck like every other schmuck.
