Right now all our energy has to focus on task #1, getting Kerry elected. Otherwise, the rest if moot. BUT, once this happens, and I believe it will, what those war criminals have done cannot be swept under the rug. IF we have control of the Senate back, it should hold extensive hearings on the multitude of crimes committed by this cabal. But even without control of the Senate, Kerry should instruct his justice department to begin investitgations. Where this will lead I don't know, but the truth has to come out for the world to see. The world must know that we Americans do not condone *'s human rights outrages.

1. I agree, and Ashcroft too
Remember the General saying how he'd get former Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft to testify about how he'd used the Patriot Act, why, and to what effect? I want to see that!!

2. Yes, all of them!
Many investigations are already underway. I think the Jutice Dept. is actually investigating Ashcrafty for campaign fraud.

3. Please!
Bush will pardon all of them, resign and be pardoned by Cheney the day before Kerry is inaugurated. These people care nothing for decency or law (or the rest of the Republican party for that matter).

The more they felt threatened, the more they were afraid the whole corrupt enterprise would be exposed, the more they became desperate, resorting to careless and irrational intrigues to cover up their crimes.

7. Devil's advocate
Where do we want our president and our government focused? Punishing PResident Bush and Vice President Cheney, or fixing the damage they caused. Personally I would rather see Kerry focused on getting jobs for Americans. Focused on fixing the situation in Iraq so that we can get out of there. Focused on rebuilding our terrible relationship with the rest of the world.

10. Yeah but there's also political capital
Running criminal investigations against political enemies will make every republican on the hill nervous, won't they? If you are going to bring Bush and Cheney up, why not some of the Republicans in Congress. Tom Delay for example?

And then how is Kerry supposed to get any of his legislative agenda passed?

11. Right, we should be focused on rebuilding
but how is the rest of the world supposed to view us if we do nothing to prevent the neocons from coming back in 4 years?

They MUST be held accountable...it's the first step on rebuilding our standing with the rest of the world.

8. to hell with Congressional hearings, I want criminal investigations
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 09:17 AM by truthspeaker
1. The 2000 election: Did Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris intentionally drop tens of thousands of African Americans from the voter registration rolls, or was it criminal negligence? Was there a conspiracy to intimidate the people doing recounts?

2. Did Bush, Cheney, and various Cabinet members lie to Congress prior to the IWR vote? If so, was it a crime?

3. Misappropriation of funds: using the 9/11 money to pay for the Iraq invasion.

4. Ordering the EPA to publish false information.

5. Misuse of national security laws to prevent Sibel Edmonds from testifying in a criminal case in which the federal government is a defendant.

6. Leaking the name of an undercover CIA agent.

7. Possible intimidation of broadcast and print media in violation of the constitutional guarantee of a free press.

8. Violating the UN charter, to which the United States is a signatory.

9. A murder investigation of that State Department employee who "jumped" off the top of a building.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.

12. Kerry needs only to sign onto the ICC
The international criminal court (?)
Rumsfeld, Cheney, Feith, Wolfowitz, Bush, Kissinger, Rice, Powell, in fact the whole executive branch should be tried.

You know what gets me - how it is that they(the executive branch) somehow beleives that they are above the law. They do - all their actions point to such. There is absolutely no accountability with such arrogence. Voting them out is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. There are over 10 000 dead Iraqi's. over 8000 dead Afghani's, over 700 dead US servicemen, and thousands and thousands of permanently disfigured people.

13. You have to understand what they think.

Laura Bush has stated that those of us with brains and opinions are the "chattering" class. They of course are the "ruling" class.

As far as these people are concerned, we may as well have dots on our foreheads and work at the "untouchable" jobs we tried to outsource but India wouldn't take.
