5. One that's got me Dumsquizzled
Is a friend who's not a freeper but listens to them (he's more of a traditional conservative) who suggested that conservatives are concerned that Kerry is really angry and hence unstable.

I countered it by comparing it to all the other things freepers have said, particularly about how he has no personality and no passion. He said, jokingly, "Well he has no emotion until he talks about Bush and then he gets really angry. He's manic depressive." But he admitted how ridiculous an argument that was.

9. "Clinton murdered innocent people at Ruby Ridge and Waco."
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 10:27 AM by blm
Freepers cannot read calendars.

Ruby Ridge happened in 1991 and Waco was a FOUR YEAR INVESTIGATION that Bush1's ATF wanted to conclude BEFORE Clinton's people took over. Clinton was in office a few weeks when the ATF decided to conclude their assignment.

It was those ATF who had been working the investigation for FOUR YEARS who told Reno they had all the evidence they needed. Was Reno even unpacked at the time?

The same people who say you can't blame Bush for 9-11 because he had only been in office for 8 MONTHS blame Clinton for Waco when he had been in office for a few weeks.

How I handle it? Advice to the morons...."Learn how to read and comprehend calendars."

41. Bush's Policies Are Creating MORE Anti-US Hatred
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 10:57 AM by ulTRAX
The TRUE enemy in the war against terror is the dynamic that creates more hatred against the US.

The US is, as usual, oblivious to its own role in the conflict. Now that there's no WMDs... Bush claims invading an Arab nation to create a "democracy" will cause it to spread though out the Arab world. He believes THAT is the ultimate cure for terrorism.

But Bush is only following in the footsteps of the arrogant US policies that set the stage for Bin Laden. The US installed the murderous Shah of Iran.... leading to the anti-US theocracy in Iran. After we abandoned Afghanistan, and it slipped into chaos, Iran became the model for the Taliban. The US helped the Ba'athists in Iraq come to power and helped Saddam fight Iran. Now, rather than repudiate these polices, Bush continues them by invading a SECOND Arab nation... a nation that the Arab world knew posed no threat to US.

While I agree that the mid-east nations would benefit from secular democracy... Bush's policies can can only instill more hatred against the US than if he tried to pressure our FRIENDS into becoming those new democracies. Bush has guaranteed more terrorism for the next generation.

17. deficits/debt don't matter
Great topic:

The on/off budget concept are too confusing. Someone needs to get out there, Ross Perot style, and explain how this works.... and why unified budget figures are NOT honest since the conceal the true size of the deficit.

The budget numbers, themselves, are too abstract. A million, a billion, a trillion.... the eyes of Joe Sixpack glaze over. Again... these numbers are shocking if one can relate them to real life. In other posts I've suggested basing an ad campaign on the debt/deficits.... and how much money is pissed away on interest... using this approach: http://www.crunchweb.net/87billion/

there have been so many but this point has come up a few times.

To which I simply reply that if all the money that the government has they first had to steal then that makes the freeper an accessory sinced they drive on roads built uisng that stolen money, send ther kids to schools built and run using that stolen money, rely on police and fireman who are paid with stolen money...

Admitedly , I get the REALLY stupid freepers.

As for Kerry, right now I seem to be running into freepers going on about Kerry not getting hurt and throwing his medals (or claiming he lied becuase he actually threw ribbons)

Which is easy to refute. I ask them how much shrapnel does Shrub have in his body (kerry still has some in his leg if i recall) and that if Cheney and Shrub had actually been in the military, they would have known that ribons are medals. (I then bring up my own navy career)

but thats so easy.

72. Welcome fourfoot
Global warming causes severe weather changes, some cold, some hot, some violent. The main point is that on average, the temperature of the planet increases. The point that stupid freepers can't get is that "average" term. The "average" is warmer.

The average is evaluated by collecting data throughout the world. Specific thermometers are in place and data is collected and analyzed. Not only is temperature evaluated, but also, as one example, the falling of leaves in forests as it happens now, compared to core samples of of the geological record of previous seasons and gaseous changes produced by decay from one year to the next in the same forest (e.g.).

The average temperature in Alaska has increased by 5 degrees in the last 50 years. The ice melt in Alaska begins weeks earlier than it did 50 years ago.

But you needn't try to confuse freepers with facts.

54. OMG.. I havent seen that, but I don't go there
I'm familiar with the type of people who would put that on there though. The same religious reich people who seem confused when you remind them Jesus preached of taking care of the less fortunate.

53. Do you have to shout
There is a key on your keyboard that will release all the capital letters. It is against the rules also by the way. It is how Freepers communicate.

56. "They hate us for our freedoms"
"They" won't be hating us for our "freedoms" too much longer, seeing as how the the current administration seems intent on doing away with a bunch of them (free speech, right to assemble peacefully, equal rights, etc.).

And when this mindless, glassy-eyed, drool-filled talking point comes up, I'm happy to enumerate for the speaker all the REAL things "they" "hate" "us" for.

57. 80,000 could be dead in Jordan
I don't know where this has been discussed here. Just so happens this story ties every Freeping thing together nicely. Terrorists, WMD's, Al Quaeda trained in Afghanistan and big ties to Iraq, oh and Syria. Something sure smells fishy about that averted disaster. Can someone help me?

67. it's been in the news....
Though I heard that maybe 20,000 could have been affected if the plan went though. Nightline did a story on it Tuesday. What I find very suspicious is that the mastermind was so willing to talk about the planning.

70. Thank You!
The story that I read had all the pieces fitting neatly together. I'll have to read more on it.

69. Tax breaks work.....

Freeper
Tax breaks work

Counter
It's simple math. When you give tax breaks to the rich they don't trickle down to the middle and lower. Historically it doesn't happen, and in modern times the only time that middle class assets increased was after Clinton reversed the Reagan tax givaway to the rich (highest ever of any industrialized nation).

The other interesting inherent reality is the fact that if you give everyone in our large variation of wealth in this nation an EQUAL percentage tax break...(which the republicons don't even endorse which would be the fairest in a certain sense)....do you think that it benefits all classes the same "percent"????

Answer....in a capitalistic system...those at the top with money will have the greatest advantage in making MORE money....so a continual review of the progressive tax system MUST be made in order to avoid money continually flowing to the top.

78. Horseface
Did he throw medals or ribbons?
Horseface
Flip-flops (well you would too after finding out that you were lied to)
Horseface
Doesn't support military by voting against the 87b after voting for it. (They fail to mention he only reneged his vote after learning that the majority of the funding would be for Cheney's Haliburton company)
Horseface
One of his purple hearts was for a scratch. (And exactly how many purple hearts did * win again?)
Horseface

Unfortunately I listen to all the right wing talk shows on my to and from work. I usually get a chuckle and cheer when someone with knowledge calls in to set the record straight on the villainous * admin.
All day long they talk about the way he looks, flip-flops, and other absolutely meaningless issues.

Just today Hannity was talking about how Kerry doesn't want to talk about his record because he would be buried. Funny how when you point a finger at someone there are three more pointing back at you. Isn't obvious that * entire campaign is about attacking Kerry, I haven't seen one ad that depicts how he has actually helped the American people.
