| Big Win in Central Florida |
|
The University of Central Florida's Physical Plant employees (lowest paid of the lowest paid) voted overwhelmingly to rejoin the American Federation of State County & Municipal Employees today. The vote was 115 to 19!!! UCF and the state university refused to honor a 20-year relationship with AFSCME two years ago and said that each university would have to decide to rejoin. So far, only 1 university (Gulf Coast) has not voted overwhelmingly to return to AFSCME. This election was won through a lot of hard work against tremendous odds.

The Univ President John Hitt manages the huge (43,000 student) campus with an iron fist. This is a BIG slap to his authority.
