Question about ABC producer Chris Vlasto (twisted the Kerry medals story)

Anyone else recall that Chris Vlasto was given alot of exclusive inside stories by Ken Starr during his crusade against Clinton? Wasn't he one of the so-called journalists who rabidly promoted reports biased against Clinton?

Vlasto is obviously an operative for the right wingnuts posing as a mainstream journalist.

No real journalist would have used the word lie in reference to Kerry and the medal story.

That same day an op-ed column appears in the Wall Street Journal under the headline ‘When Susan McDougal Almost Talked,’ written by Chris Vlasto, a producer for ABC News. In his account, Vlasto claims that McDougal had insinuated to him in off-the-record remarks in 1994 that she had dirt on the Clintons.

McDougal denies ever being alone with Vlasto during that meeting in New York. Two other witnesses back her account. But at her grand jury interrogation, Starr’s prosecutors present the Wall Street Journal article- published that very day, through coordination between the Independent Counsel and the Journal’s editorial office- as proof that McDougal was hiding important facts about Whitewater. With jurors watching, they place the article in front of McDougal, drawing attention to the headline. Prosecutors later introduce the op-ed piece as evidence.

Jim McDougal, who later dies of a massive heart attack while in solitary confinement, says that after his Whitewater conviction ABC’s Vlasto approached him and urged him to cooperate with the special prosecutor. “You don’t have to go out this way,” Vlasto said. “If you walk in to see Ken Starr, he will greet you with open arms.”

Later, in his capacity as an ABC journalist, Chris Vlasto produces the reports about Monica Lewinsky’s semen-stained dress.
