A problem with the Kerry campaign
At least it is with me. I ordered some "free bumper stickers" about a month and a half ago, and still haven't recieved them. I have emailed and called numerous times and haven't even gotten a reply. This irritates me. When someone promises something and doesn't deliver, that's false advertising, and that's decietful, dishonest, and against the law. I still intend to vote for Kerry, but am finding it harder to support him after this fiasco. I realize this is small compared with the welfare of the entire world, but dammit, it's annoying.

2. No... Fallujah is a "fiasco." WoMD was a "fiasco."

Florida 2000 was a "fiasco." You are a little disappointed and are pouty because of it.

My God, are we Americans always this self-centered?

then read the whining about kerry

3. Wait, you've been waiting your whole life for the Cubs
to win a World Series, but you can't wait a month and a half for a free bumper sticker?

20. How do you know it's been his whole life?

How do you know he wasn't rooting for the Cubs when they won ninety-six years ago?

7. Ok the deal is
that I have been a steady supporter of Democratic candidates since 1975, when I first became eligible to vote. I have donated time and money to various campaigns, both local and national. A couple of bumper stickers is not asking too much. One for each vehicle. Thats all I ask. As I stated, this is very small and petty compared to the overall picture, but it is the principal of the thing.

18. Not necessarily, Bluzmann - I, too, am still waiting for MY free Kerry
sticker. I ordered one weeks ago. After having donated three times to the campaign, I'll have you know. It's not like I was looking for something for nothin'. And I certainly plan to donate again. But I would like a Kerry sticker for my car. I'd like to be driving around with it. Other folks have it. Guess I'll have to go look for one elsewhere. Yes, you're correct. It is a very small thing, but I'm a teensy bit annoyed myself. Not so much so that I'm gonna withhold my support! But it IS annoying. Especially since I gave already. THREE times.

8. I bet you don't live in a battleground state.
If you lived in OH or MI you probably would have gotten your bumper stickers.

Also, they're FREE!!!! What do you want? You don't have a contract with them (you didn't give them money -- it's totally gratuitous). No law has been broken!

9. I finally got mine
I ordered mine about a month ago. I asked someone specifically in the campaign and she apologized and said they had run out and more were coming. Then I heard that a big shipment went out and a whole bunch of us on DU got them the same day (me included).

I think their bumpersticker department is poorly run.

But that's not going to turn me against Kerry.

The main issue of this campaign isn't who can send out their bumperstickers faster.

11. I never said that I won't vote for Kerry
I was just letting off steam. As I said and said and said... it's just annoying. Ah forget it. If you all want to rip me, go ahead.

12. I understand it's annoying
and frustrating. But you said you are "finding it harder to support him after this fiasco". Yeah, someone in the campaign is screwing up the bumpersticker process, but it's not Kerry's fault and he shouldn't lose support for it, you know?

A couple ideas:
- does your town have a Democratic Town Committee? I got a Kerry bumpersticker there, too, at the monthly meeting.
- are you planning on going to a Kerry house party on 5/22? They will probably be giving out bumperstickers.

You'll eventually get yours from the campaign, too, but they are screwed up and taking too long right now.

13. That's politics in a nutshell
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 03:51 PM by hughee99
You're upset that someone promised you something and didn't deliver, despite your previous and continuing support? Isn't that what politics is all about?

15. Bumperstickers, Yardsigns
Take money that could be used to wage the types of fights we all advocate. DU has an option when you donate to refuse the bumpersticker. The last time I donated I refused it to help Skinner with resources. It's a small gesture but, I think, a reasonable one. Plenty of sites will sell you one. Be patient though. I would suggest a respectful letter or a call to the campaign.

21. Party Packets - $12.50
Here's another idea if you have a little extra cash. Order a party packet. Then you can hand some out too. I know you already gave, but sometimes you just gotta' do what you gotta' do.

15 Campaign Buttons
15 Campaign Bumper Stickers
5 Rally Signs
25 Balloons

I received mine yesterday. Just hang on, it'll come.

there are bigger problems in this campaign than bumper stickers.
