Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 04:48 PM by TruthIsAll
McCain, you have unbelievable gonads to say that Bush and Kerry BOTH served honorably in Viet Nam. You quisling.

How dare you criticize Sen. Lautenburg for his comments today?
Yes, Cheney is a Chickenhawk and a coward. As are virtually all your fellow Republicans. Like those bastards who morphed Max Cleland into Saddam for your friend Saxby Chambliss. Why don't you talk about that, quisling?

John, you whore for Bush every chance you can. Even after he spread those lies about you about your wife during the South Carolina primary. He had his henchman say you had a little brown one, remember? Why don't you talk about that, quisling?

As for Bush, he's too scared to testify alone about 9/11. He needs to sit on the lap of his Chickenhawk buddy. Why don't you talk about that, quisling?

And what about the Bush WH outing Valerie Plame. Why don't you talk about that, quisling?

You make me sick.

1. Yesterday & Hanoi John
Where was his criticism of that remark? I don't mind him calling for an end to this, but he did it in such an ugly partisan manner. Whoring for Bush, totally beneath him.

24. Pretty Sure
Maybe it was the House, but I could swear it was in the Senate too. This was last week and I thought the Senate exchange was yesterday or Monday.

"Johnson, who spent seven years as a North Vietnamese prisoner of war, said the young Kerry "blasted our nation, chastised our troops and hurt our morale. . . . What he did was nothing short of aiding and abetting the enemy." Comparing Kerry to former antiwar activist Jane Fonda, Johnson said: "He's called Hanoi John."

The presiding officer, Rep. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.), briefly cautioned members not to disparage senators by name, but other Republicans poured it on. Rep. John Kline (Minn.) said Kerry's service in the war "does not excuse his joining ranks with Jane Fonda and others in speaking ill of our troops or their service, then or now." Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (Calif.), whose plane was shot down over North Vietnam, said Kerry's 1971 remarks angered Cunningham and his comrades at the time. "We do not need a Jane Fonda as commander in chief," he said."

2. Two Quick Points
First, Sen. Mc Cain served in VietNam -- and was captured by the VietCong -- and was held prisoner by them. He is no "quisling".

Second, Sen McCain has defended John Kerry's record in Vietnam when other Republicans have tried to tear Kerry's record down.

25. Not good enough today
He brought up the chickenhawk comment and ignored the Hanoi John comment. He says both served admirably which is absolute bullshit. I like John McCain fine, but today's display was beneath him.

Did McCain actually say that the monkey served honorably in Vietnam? If he did, he is high on crack, and somebody needs to call him on it. If he said that the monkey served his country honorably, well, that's a matter of opinion and McCain is entitled to his, even if he's wrong.

Personally, I think the senator is a very confused man. He tries to be loyal to the party with which he feels kinship, and they rape him at every opportunity. I think he's suffering from some peculiar political equivalent of battered wife sydrome. It's sad, really. I'm not being sarcastic. McCain's a mess.

14. I have been screaming for months about the McCain worship..

It's fucking PATHETIC. This guy is a repuke. He is as bad as Bush but yet people have this misguided respect for him because he has a "good personality"..

It's really sick when we can't find a Dem who we think will fight for us, so some of us resort to wanting McCain as VP. That makes us SPINELESS.

Fuck McCain. Fuck the GOP. Period. It's time to elect a Dem, take back the Senate and fight these fuckers.

I have started at least 5 posts in the last 3 months regarding this McCain worship yet I see it daily. It makes me ill that we are this fucking dumb to respect this guy who stands for everything we are against. I have to read this site where people are trying to get McCain as VP...unreal.

And now, for him to have the NERVE to try and say "Hey, guys let's calm down now..." It's nauseating.

21. I'm sick of this debate
I didn't credit George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, or Al Gore for their military service. I didn't penalize Clinton or any of the nominees this year for their lack of service.

Honest to God, if we're debating this in November, I'm going to hang myself. I really don't give a shit anymore.

27. THIS WHOLE THREAD IS BOGUS
I call bullshyte:

from the CNN article mentioned by the thread starter, there is no mention by McCain of Bush and Kerry both serving in Vietnam. He said they both served "honorably"

"McCain, the next senator to speak, said he had planned to discuss an Internet tax moratorium bill but that he felt he needed to address Lautenberg's remarks.

He said reasonable differences of opinion existed about the handling of the Iraq war but that the Senate should focus on making the operation successful.

"What are we doing on the floor of the Senate? We're attacking the president's credentials because of his service that ended ... more than 30 years ago," McCain said.

"I think that's wrong. I wish we'd stop it. I wish we'd just stop, at least until the fighting in Iraq is over with."

He called for a bipartisan approach to "seeing this thing through because we cannot afford to fail."

"At least could we declare that the Vietnam War is over and have a cease-fire and agree that both candidates -- the president of the United States and Senator Kerry served honorably -- end of story?" McCain said.

"Now let's focus our attention on the conflict that's taking place in Iraq, that is taking American lives as I speak on this floor," he said."

29. OK, we all know Bush did not serve in Viet Nam, that's the point.
Your hero McCain is the one who is full of shyte, by saying they both served honorably during the war. He dishonors ALL veterans, including himself, by making that outrageous statement to imply that that Bush is on the same level as Kerry.

Bush and Cheney ARE world-class Chickenhawks.

He is whoring for Bush. Bush and Cheney are traitors. Where do I begin? Starting wars for money? Stealing taxpayers money?

I stand by the post. McCain, by supporting these traitorous usurpers of our democracy, is himself acting like one.

That, friend, is a quisling.
