Sen. Byrd yells at the Republicans! |
|
Today he took out his pocket constitution and started waving it at them, reminding them that the executive branch and the legislative branch are supposed to be separate. Instead we have the republican congressmen being little more than a "rubber stamp" for the executive. Then he launched into "what happened to civility in the senate" during which he picked out a republican senator from oregon to lavish praise on for being a gentleman and a person who remembered to remain civil. Finally, he reminded the republicans that although they are the majority now, that they better remember that can change.

1. He inspired me (in an interview 2 years ago) |

with that pocket constitution thing. If I ever run for office I'm gonna carry one everywhere I go just like he does. What a great idea!

14. Thanks for the tip and you're right, it's a fundy one, and more |
|
It's the same organization that funded/defended ol' Paula Jones against Clinton. They're more than fundies - they're CRs (Christian Reconstuctionists - theocratic followers of R.J. Rushdoony). So I don't trust them AT ALL. Pursue it at your own risk!

3. Sen. Byrd is a great statesman.... |
|
I love it when he pulls out his pocket constitution! I've seen him do this on a number of occasions. I also love that his speeches have about 10 words per page. He must use the largest font available. But he doesn't need to wear his glasses that way. Smart man.

12. He called Sen. Smith (R-OR) a gentleman? |
|
I guess he's a civil guy... until you look at his voting record. But I see Byrd's point. Good for Sen. Byrd & good for Sen. (gulp) Smith.
