A superb analysis of Drudge |
|
http://www.moderateindependent.com/v2i4drudge.htm“Drudge is not a reporter, a journalist or a newsgatherer. He is, as he himself admits, simply a purveyor of gossip. See Complaint, Exs. 6, 8. His argument that he should benefit from the "news gathering exception" to subsection (a)(4) of the long-arm statute merits no serious consideration.”
This is not speculation or commentary from any political type. This is the legal opinion of a judge who presided over a defamation suit in which Drudge was involved a few years ago. (SIDNEY BLUMENTHAL and JACQUELINE JORDAN BLUMENTHAL, Plaintiffs, v. MATT DRUDGE and AMERICA ONLINE, INC., Defendants., Civil Action No. 97-1968 (PFL), UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, 992 F. Supp. 44; 1998 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 5606; 26 Media L. Rep. 1717; 12 Comm. Reg. (P & F) 367, April 22, 1998, Decided, April 22, 1998, Filed)
. . . But like Rupert Murdoch, Drudge realized that if you firmly and constantly kiss right-wing butt, the extremely wealthy and completely amoral Bush/Limbaugh-right will push you ahead with their massive media machine and give you lots of money to continue propagating your smears and flat out lies. Just a lil refresher for those unaware of Drudge's history.

1. Is this saying the right wing gives Drudge money? |
|
I doubt that. From other articles, I know that Drudge has always been a Republican. He gets paid plenty just from ads on his site. Is it really fathomable that the RNC (or whoever) actually pays him?
I push the Democrats/liberalism on my site--and I don't see a penny from the DNC or DLC!

2. Now, I wonder who buys the ads. |
|
One hand washes the other, is my guess.

3. Um, big companies, I would guess. |
|
I recall companies like Pepsi being Drudge sponsors. I don't think they're run by the RNC.
