WTF - Drudge claims Kerrey and Hamilton had Prior committments
If this is true - this is an idiotic move. Just hand the ammo to the Wingnuts guys!

http://www.drudgereport.com/

The Oval Office session began at 9:30 a.m. and ended at 12:40 p.m., and two Democrat commission members -- Lee Hamilton, the vice chairman, and Bob Kerrey -- walked out! In a written statement, Kerrey said he left an hour early to attend 'a previously scheduled meeting with Senator Pete Domenici on Capitol Hill'... Hamilton left Bush/Cheney to meet with the Canadian Prime Minister... Developing...

1. This is bizarre
I can kind of understand Hamilton leaving so as not to offend the Canadian Prime Minister, but Kerrey leaving to meet with Domenici, a Republican? That makes no sense.

2. Yeah, but Hamilton knew the day they were meeting
couldn't he have rescheduled the meeting with the Prime Minister or had someone else do it?

4. You do NOT reschedule a meeting with a head of state
even if it is just Canada

13. You don't leave a meeting with your own head of state
to go see the head of state of a foreign country?

This is a bunch of bull.

10. I agree with that.
To have Kerrey and Hamilton walk out in a middle of this interview knowing at the very least it isn't recorded or to be transcribed sure sounds like a protest.

To quote Woody Allen:

It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.

11. I can't see Kerrey leaving as anything other than a protest. He does do
strange things at times. He might have been really pissed at the lack of seriousness and just took a hike.

16. I see a lack of seriousness as pissing off Kerrey

that and some cheap evasions on the part of the shrub, would have sent him leaving as a protest...good for him if that's the case...

17. Damn right. Someone has to shout that the emperor has no clothes.
I am losing all respect for those politicos, both D and R, who continue to act as if it's business as usual.

7. Kerry had a haircut appointment.
Hamilton wasn't sure if he turned the stove off and had to run home and check.

8. Don't know about Hamilton but maybe Bob's walk out was as
an insult. One does not walk out on a President---and this one, on top of it all, thinks he's God so one has to even address him correctly at all times (we've seent that act). Maybe after awhile the pat answers got so boring he couldn't stand it any longer. Or maybe all that was left was a few repukes to fawn over Bush with their "questions". I think in many ways the Dems got just what they wanted----they wanted this "I need not answer to my subjects", secretive asshole to have to buckle to public pressure and appear....and then they got the red cherry on the top by letting the fool hang himself with "can I bring along my very best friend..and can I have some candy, too...and do I get a balloon if I'm a real good boy"..........this is what one calls an admittance of weakness (Woodward, honey, you were soooo set up by this people; perhaps you would like to add to your 'Bush the mighty leader' book and explain this fisaco)!

14. Exactly. "Walking Out of the OVAL OFFICE" is an absolute protest.
I can't imagine it any other way. It's just not done.

Can't wait for the truth to unfold...

15. Using the excuse prior commitments
when not going to something is a snub in Washington. I suppose leaving a very important meeting early with that excuse must also be a snub.
