6. you'll regret you found out about this story.....
Nightline plans to dedicate an entire show naming each and every fallen soldier in the Iraqi War. Well Sinclair Broadcasting decided they didn't like this idea and is not airing the show on their local broadcasts. Low and behold, this thread points out that some of the executives over at Sinclair donates thousands of dollars to the bush campaign.

It's SCARY how many friends bush has.

whole thing more publicity.

15. atrios has Sinclair phone numbers posted and AirAmerica Radio is......
talking about it and providing links to email addresses. If Sinclair thinks this show isn't in the "best interest of the American public" then it's time for the American public to correct them on this point. Last time I checked, I'm not a child.

10. trying to link 9-11 to Iraq
ABC Nightline Pre-emption
snip

We understand that our decision in this matter may be questioned by some. Before you judge our decision, however, we would ask that you first question

Mr. Koppel as to why he chose to read the names of 523 troops killed in combat in Iraq, rather than the names of the thousands of private citizens killed in terrorist attacks since and including the events of September 11, 2001.

In his answer, we believe you will find the real motivation behind his action scheduled for this Friday. Unfortunately, we may never know for sure because Mr. Koppel has refused repeated requests from Sinclair's News Central news organization to comment on this Friday's program.
**********************************************************************

note: Sinclair seems to be tying the 9-11 attacks tp the war in Iraq.....which even bush said there was none.............

16. Obviously, there are NO parallels to fascism, right?
"Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism as it is a merge of state and corporate power." -Benito Mussolini

I know, I know, we can't throw the fascism accusation around carelessly. I'm just a liberal purist, what do I know?

17. So true
Although it doesn't negate the fact that some people do throw the term around when they mean other things...but to rightly call the current economic/ glbal situation fascism is to rightly name things as they are.

19. I like using the term "Bushists" as described in this article...
http://www.uexpress.com/columnoftheamericas /

<snip>"Bushist."
That's an adjective that may soon enter our political lexicon. It points to a radical political philosophy -- best expounded by President George W. Bush -- that describes both an aggressive military agenda and the surrendering of government to the world's most exploitive and anti-environmental corporations.

In a cultural context, Bushist may also come to describe a person who continues to insist the world is flat, even in the face of overwhelming and damning evidence. Here are several other meanings:

Meaning three: a person who remains completely oblivious to reality, even as Rome is ablaze. Meaning four: someone who initiates war, while claiming to be divinely inspired, doing the peaceful work of The Father. Meaning five: one who questions the loyalty and patriotism of those with divergent viewpoints. Meaning six: one who continuously flip-flops as a result of extreme political pressure (as opposed to one who flip-flops without political pressure).

<snip>

I was thinking that if we had a new term to describe these guys then the traditional conservatives might have an 'out' to distance themselves. The Bush people really are their own unique little group. They should have their own unique little name that's not associated with anything else.

18. I'm calling my cable co tomorrow to see if they are
being forced to pre-empt.

I guess I'm not sure just what to do. It's not Koppel's fault nor ABC, so not watching ABC and writing Koppel's sponsors isn't the right thing.

What do you think about writing to the FCC? They are the ones who are all in a tizy over Janet Jackson and putting delays on even live TV.
