Mind you - they're not saying that they HOPE Kerry wins or that they're going to run out and vote for Kerry. They're saying "I wouldn't really mind if Kerry won."

Just got off the phone with my brother who has been a lifelong Repub. About a year ago he was totally ga-ga over Bush. It's been so ingrained in him that he's a Repub that it would be tough for him to vote Dem.

He was just saying that it wouldn't be all-together bad if Kerry got in and was able to improve relations with the rest of the world. He doesn't like the way Bush deals with the rest of the world and has alienated them. Also - that Bush didn't sound very intelligent and that Kerry was obviously very intelligent. He also said that he thought abortion should remain legal.

I asked if he thought that the war in Iraq had been a good idea and he said "I don't think there's anyone at this point who would say it was a good idea."

This was someone who I would have said a year ago is about a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10 of being "gung-ho" Repub. I get the idea that if things gets a lot worse, he would either stay home or would quietly vote for Kerry.

Then one of my neighbors who is normally a gung-ho Repub. (has a picture of Bush on her refrig.) and says she likes Bush commented to me "I wouldn't die if Kerry were to win. It wouldn't bother me." and, about a week ago another die-hard Repub said that they wouldn't really care if Kerry won.

This is 3 of them in the last few week or so...

All three of these people are above average in intelligence (except for the fact they're Republicans-lol!)

1. I am guessing also well to do
the tide is turning, I am almost willing to bet that many life long republicans will cross the line and vote for Kerry in November

2. Yes - all three. I have the feeling that they think "Bush means well
- but he doesn't know what they hell he's doing and is screwing up bad."

3. That is excellent news
Because even if they're the type that wouldn't vote for a Democrat if their life depended on it, if they "don't care" if Kerry wins or not they might not vote at all.

I think that the people that are angry will be out in droves, record numbers this November... while the only ones that will make SURE they vote on the other side will be the far-right fringe and the fundies.

4. No Way in Hell
My sister is born again and she can't stand Bush. Three years ago I told her what was going to happen after Bush was elected. After 9/11 I laid it out again. She thought I was nuts.

She called to tell the other night that she can't believe how accurate I was, even down to the war in Iraq.

There's no way in hell she would vote for the resident.

9. Rather than be insulting, why not make a factual statement that
can be debated? Lots of us here won't mind taking the time to educate you. Tell us what you think....they we will explain why you're wrong.

Go for it.

10. You are a repetitive little bugger.
You hit every thread and make the same remark.

Woh, did your daddy write that for you so you could cut and paste?

If this was poltical_discourse.com it would be hypocritical to ban progressives or conservatives.

But on the Freeper site you get banned for being a liberal. Here you get banned for being a conservative disruptor.

Its simple really but I understand how the simple truth is very difficult for some conservatives to understand.

6. Crowd psychology.
I think as some Republicans move for the exits, this has an effect on those remaining...they also start re-examining their thinking. I'm sure that lots of these people are Republican because they think they are 'winners'....when they start thinking they backing the 'losers', they will also follow.

Of course, I also think there's a fanatical 35% or so that would commit suicide before they'd vote Democrat. They've got way too much emotional attachment and identity invested in their Party to ever consider leaving....but they may not bother to vote.

11. Yup, peer pressure...
is far more potent than anything we can say.

Once they start doubting in their own minds, and passing that doubt along, it's all over for Shrub.

A virus of reality infecting them all. Who says viruses are all bad?

12. Ive heard the same thing...

Not endorsing it, but saying they wouldn't mind.

This is what happens when Dems unite and fight back. It affects people. Means we are doing a good job.

13. I'm not sure what Bush is
But he really does not fit the description of a true Republican.

What I think the Party should have done was give us a choice of another candidate to run against Bush. Had they done this, we would not be discussing the Kerry/bush elections. it would have been the Kerry/? elections.

The habit of running a sitting president unopposed regardless of his record is just bad policy.

So heres the choice for the republicans.
Vote Democrat. Not a pretty thought for many.
Vote third party. Why waste the time going to the poll.
Vote for King George. In four more years we might be going head to head with China. (they do make fireworks there you know)
