The child who was left behind |
|
Was listening to NPR while driving so the details may not be complete:
When Bush ran for president he mentioned a visit to a juvenile home, or something, and that's how he started with his "compassionate conservatism." But a reporter found that boy about whom Bush supposedly talked and found that, as with everything Bush touches, it is pure crap.
That reporter wrote the story - not sure for which magazine, GC? - under the heading the child that was left behind.
Anybody knows anything about this?

Bush met with this kid in a juvie center for a photo op. The kid asked him during the q&a "What do you think of us"? I guess it kind of truck a chord with him at the time. Eventually used him as an example of how compassionate conservatism can work at the RNC convention. Of course the kid is now living with a adult who has a history of sex crimes and drug convictions. You just HAVE to love the compassionate conservative way. Really was a sad story.

2. Thanks. And last night's Frontline |
|
gave a chilly description of what this "compassionate conservatism" is all about.
