What with Feb. 29th and all.

At least that is the way the news was treating it this morning.

8. The really spooky part is that he never actually said that
I know I know the banner put it in everyone's mind and it is referred to as the "Mission Accomplished" speech but (see my Remember:... post above for link) he never actually said "mission accomplished"-they really are THAT slimy.

14. but Rove ordered the banner that did; it's as if he said it.
I know they claim sailors on the ship came up with "Mission Accomplished" all by themselves with no input from the White House. SUUUUUUUUURE they did.

15. The perception is out there, though
I just heard a teaser on CNN, "Mission Accomplished." It's been a year since President Bush uttered that immortal phrase," or something to that effect.

21. Yeah that "Saddam..........9/11" thing is turned around on them here
I wonder if 70% (or even 1/2) of people polled would say that he said "Mission Accomplished". I would bet that the number would be over 50%.

18. that's true of course, BUT
as with ALL appearances by the insipid chimp, it was necessary to put the MESSAGE in BIG LETTERS behind him so that NO ONE could miss it.

9. I remember Ann Coulter swooning over it
on some talk show, saying how "it's huge, it's huge!" I wrote something to MWO -- a list of questions about Chimpy's stunt -- including asking what Ann Coulter was referring to when she said "It's huge!" MWO wrote in brackets, "Her adam's apple?"

11. He didn't release the parachute harness like he was supposed to - ->

Above, the somewhat sexy "configuration" of President Bush's flight suit indicates that he did not release his parachute harness crotch straps as soon as he was on the deck. Flyers who have worn these parachute harnesses say that it is VERY uncomfortable, if not painful, to walk around that way which "may" account for the grimacing expression on Mr. Bush's face.

I have to say in all honesty I never got what they were talking about. Sorry but it didn't seem to be very large at all, but then that's just me.

Does this go to the concept that chickenhawks have no balls?

(Sorry, I know that's not a favored phrase around here but I couldn't resist...)

19. Our CTV Newsnet (equivalent of CNN Headline News)...
just did a great segment on this, covering the # of soldiers dead at the time of bush's "Mission Accomplished" versus the # now. The also showed clips of Robert Bird and Ted Kennedy and their comments on the failure of bush's policy on Iraq, it was great to see!

HA! (or some kind of insight such as that) but there is nothing funny about what EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING AT THEM WOULD HAPPEN.

Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.
