Isn't this the White House that defended torture as a means of obtaining
info?

Following 9/11 we had Woolsey et al on TV claimng that torture was a legitimate means of obtaining info. Now that images are available to the American public, they are backtracking but aren't our troops simply following the lead of some of our nations leaders who CLAIMED this was a legitimate means to an end?

1. The pretense of obtaining info was missing in the pics
They had no justification - so they had to CYA.

2. that was the excuse the nazi soldiers gave
I was just following orders. Bullshit...its a matter of morals. to humilate, degrade and hurt someone simply because they are an enemy prisnor is wrong. those soldiers made a choice to do what they did..now they got to pay for it

4. Yeah, at least that's an ARGUMENT
Not a good one, but there are points that can be made in defense of torture as a means of obtaining info.

What makes this really sick is that the people involved were just doing it for sport. :puke:

That's my first puke icon, btw. It gets terribly overused here at DU, but these fuckers deserve it.

10. And we are still shirking accountability in the international court
we expect to convict Milosovic and others who we justify our aggression against based on their human rights abuses.
