Anybody know any Correctional Officers?

All these MPs who were involved in this disgusting fucking incident at Abu Ghraib that I've seen identified are civilian COs. That Reserve MP unit is probably composed entirely or mostly of them, a correctional MP unit. This dovetails nicely with the impression of COs I gathered during my time in law enforcement.

The first time I ever met a CO was at a training session where several different agencies were present. The douchebag was telling a "hilarious" story about his inmates cutting the heads off of cats, stuffing them with tennis balls and then playing tennis. I was wondering what kind of punishment the inmates received when I realized that the CO had joined them in a few games. Ever since then I've been under the impression that it takes a "special" kind of person to do that kind of work. :eyes:

I was the AF version of an MP for a while, and these folks are not representative of the MP profession.

I've always viewed CO work as a second stringer kind of job for people who couldn't cut cop work. I'm now even more inclined to think that we need to stop throwing up prisons and instead spend that money on raising standards and pay for COs so we can send these sick fuckers back to shoveling shit and digging ditches, where they belong. Remember, those folks at Abu Ghraib would do shit like that in a heartbeat to non-violent drug offenders back home if they had the chance.

Anyone have any experiences with COs that are similar or dissimilar to mine and might refute or nurture my burgeoning stereotype?
