Your handy-dandy compilation of Bush racist comments
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 02:21 PM by plastic_turkeys
1) In 2000, George Bush Senior referred to his son George W's nephew, George P. Bush and his siblings, all of whom are half Mexican, as "the little brown ones".

2) WASHINGTON - It was Condoleezza Rice, national security advisor, who helped her boss out of the embarassing situation. During a conversation between the two presidents, George W. Bush, 55, (USA) and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, 71, (Brazil), Bush bewildered his colleague with the question "DO YOU HAVE BLACKS, TOO?" Rice, 47, noticing how astonished the Brazilian was, saved the day by telling Bush "Mr. President, Brazil probably has more blacks than the USA. Some say it's the country with the most blacks outside Africa."
Later, Brazilian president Cardoso said, regarding Latin America, Bush was still in his "learning phase."

3) "SOME people don't believe Iraq can be free; that if you're Muslim, or perhaps brown-skinned, you can't be self-governing or free." - 13 April 2004

4) "You know there's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that, that people whose skin color may not be the same as OURS can be free and self governing. I reject that. I reject that strongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily, you know, are a different color than white, can self-govern." - 30 April 2004

the leader of the 'free' world just reinforces the mindset in more mean-spirited people who are already steeped in the Us vs Them mentality.

6. There is ...
A high correlation between stupidity and racism.

It's rare you see an Ivy leaguer as a member of the Klan. Unless they are too smart to get caught uttering racist remarks or are working behind the scenes to further the goals of supremacists.

11. You might want to reconsider that - Bush is an Ivy Leaguer
An Ivy League diploma does not connote intelligence. Often, quite the opposite.

36. Ignorant white man's "burden"
he sounds more ignorant than racist

It's a certain sort of ignorance that comes from accepting the perks of "white privilege" and not even being aware of it.

As if Americans... "we"... are a nation of white people. The man is profoundly flawed, beyond repair.

8. Most people...
don't pay enough attention to understand what the idiot is saying. When he rambles on your mind literally shuts down and his voice is like background noise.

Kind of like when your wife asks you to change the light bulb at the front door for the 50th time (not that your wife would do that - mine maybe). It just becomes a buzzing sound and we nod along.

But my girlfriend would just try to set me on fire if I didn't do it after asking twice. Kinda hard to drown out the noise when your arm is covered in napalm.

14. Someone, the NAACP, some powerful group
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 02:24 PM by nu_duer
should call a press conference and demand an apology from bush to ALL Americans, if not the world.

He pretty much said that the US is a white country. The *&%^* president - ?!?!?!

Some group powerful enough to demand attention from the media should make a big deal of this by demanding an apology. Let's see the little moron and his defenders come out and defend these remarks, or lets see him apologize.

The only group I can think of, other than maybe enough Congresspeople, with the power to demand media attention is the NAACP.

The jerk's outrageous comments - unbelievable comments, shouldn't be allowed to go without challenge. Not here, in the US, in 2004. No room for that kind of $#!%.

12. When questioned about his campaign stop at a white supremacist..
...camp, Mr. Bush said this:

"Do not subscribe--I mean, you know, you cannot subscribe those views to me because I went to a university to speak to try to convince 6,000 people to be on my team. Ronald Reagan went there and spoke. Do you think the Catholics in Michigan rejected Ronald Reagan when he asked for their vote for the presidency? Of course not. They listened to what Reagan had to say, and they looked at Ronald Reagan's heart. And I do not agree with this notion that somehow if I go to try to attract votes and to lead people toward a better tomorrow, somehow I get subscribed to some--some doctrine gets subscribed to me. I don't accept that, and neither should you. And it's unfair."

Re #3 a, he didn't include himself in that group of people that believe that. #4 addresses this point and defeats your argument. Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm going to go to law school and your argument is weak. Also, isn't racism the holding of beliefs that one race is superior to another. Those comments reflect nothing of the sort.

I maintain that a) it would be enlightening to ask Bush who these people are that say brown skinned people can't govern themselves; and b) his rhetoric plainly imply that the US and Canada are "white" nations.

39. Bush spread the rumor that John McCain had a "nigger" daughter.
I think that episode in South Carolina defines Bush's principles, values, integrity, ethics, honesty, and Chritianity. I do not know whether Bush is a racist, but I find the republican party's practice of praising and soliciting the support of overt racists and racist organizations to be just as evil, if not even more evil, than racism itself.
