A "debate" with a freeper type

I hate to call it a debate since it was mostly a barrage of insults thrown at me from him, but you can read my round-up of it on my blog, which includes the backstory and links to his moronic attacks on me. I was completely cordial and he leapt right into the insults including:

-first, equating all pro-choicers with murderers
-I'm a god damn idiot
-a fucking moron
-I live under a "fucking rock"
-a dumbass
-FOAD, an acronym for "Fuck Off And Die"
-I'm "not important"
-"Even shit like you should enjoy life now and then."
-that I have "limited comprehension"
-supporting abortion is no different from supporting terrorism

:) As soon as he called all pro-choice supporters murderers, I didn't respond because I knew the debate was over (how can you debate with someone who has such skewed thinking), and that's when he started with the insults. I think he's been listening to Rush too much hehe :)

10. What passes for debate

is a mixture of flat out insults, ad hominem attacks, red herrings, complex questions, straw men, ... I could go on. Occasionally someone will make a valid point.

It can be amusing going line by line pointing out every single logical fallacy.

I love the nizkor site, btw. Very useful.

(and I would like to specify that I'm no Tough Guy, just an average duDe who has reached his breaking point for tolerating Bushevik Bullshit )

I have no desire for a converstaion which is most likely to wind up in the alley. In which case one of two things will most assuredly happen:

1) Arrest for assault
2) Getting my ass kicked (however, I'm so angry and so spine-stiffened lately, they might have to beat me within an inch of my life to keep me down, and that would most definitely be worse than a garden-variety ass-kicking)

I just avoid talking to them. OTOH, I have also made a personal vow to NEVER allow Bushevik Lies to pass unchalleneged in my presence, so it is a thin line I'm walking.

I don't think I could have stood in that "debate" and not gotten right down to that Freepy Chimp's level of in-your-face-insults. Right down.

13. Yeah, that sounds pretty typical.

I used to go to a website that allowed all viewpoints. There were several freeper types there.

Occasionally, I would get them to actually debate issues, to a degree. But inevitably, if they had to post more than 2-3 times, they abandoned reason and resorted to personal attacks, namecalling, and insults.

I remember one time, I was just trying to ascertain exactly where his 'charitable' limits were, i.e., should ANYONE get govt aid. I was going through case after case (a drunk on the streets, a pregnant runaway, a developmentally disabled adult, etc) to see if ANY of these were worthy of his 'hard-earned' tax dollars. I thought we were actually having a good discussion, seeing that there were no 'absolutes', that there were gray areas where people might actually need and deserve our help.

Suddenly, he just quits the dialog, declared victory, and quit the debate altogether.

I've NEVER found a conservative who will consistantly debate reasonably.

I like to debate and learn about different points of view, but when I am told to "fuck off and die" by someone, I really don't care to learn anything about their views, it's very telling of their personality.

I have "discussions" with a repub at work occasionally. Whenever he gets bogged down he responds with "your problem is..." He can't stand it that his arguments are so full of holes he can't defend them. I will NOT back down when he tries this, I just point out he is now engaging in personal attacks, so he usually shuts up and leaves my office a that point.
