1. The picture takers posted them on a porn site.

According to another thread in GD.

2. In the lastest case

The photos originally turned up in public on US porn sites. Recently, a soldier assigned to the prison also turned copies of them over to one of their superiors outside the prison (not sure who). CBS got them around the same time, I believe, and had originally followed the military's order not to run them. They changed their mind when they found they were already on the porn sites, I believe.

(I might have some minor details wrong, but that's what I've been able to put together so far).

4. The porn angle
Here's all I know:

"The pictures of US soldiers dishonoring Iraqi detainees came as no surprise to JUS. We have been reporting alleged abuses since shortly after the fall of Baghdad. We received several reports over the past months of US soldiers raping Iraqi woman, only to find these photos posted to US porn sites. While these photos and reports were put down to “loose” Iraqi women (which shows a fundamental understanding of Iraq’s religion and culture) we discovered later that those who were detained, some at Abu Ghraib prison, who refused to provide US officials with intelligence where given a prod to garner “cooperation” by rounding up the female relatives, forcing then into sexual acts that were filmed and then shown to their husbands, fathers and brothers and to the general public through porn sites. Now the CBS 60 Minutes II report legitimizes the incidents we have been reporting all along.

Porn is not my turf, but I am contacting folk who might be able to substantiate this disturbing allegation, like Larry Flynt. I'll post any information that substantiates this allegation, or negates it here in the future.

9. Speculation on the details
It appears that the photos were taken with a traditional camera (film) as it is unlikely that MPs have ready access to a computer to effectively use a digital camera.

Prints have been mentioned. This also points to film photos.

Which means they were processed in Iraq. Which means yet another person -- the guy who developed them, presumably an American soldier -- knows about this stuff going on too.

I am guessing copies of prints were sent "back home" to friends, and were then scanned and uploaded, and ended up here and there, and either directly or indirectly ended up on porn sites, as it is alleged.

Someone with expertise -- and the stomach -- to penetrate the nexis of militarism/S&M porn on the internet might have encountered the photos there. This is a realm that I do not go into (YIKES), but it seems a likely place to find an audience for such sadistic obscenity. An investigation could trace the photos back to their source . I didn't turn any up on Google either....but I bet someone who knows their way around this realm of the internet better than I could locate the sites -- IF they exist, as is alleged.

Another poss -- one of the prints got passed into the hands of someone in the US military community with a scrap of morality and ethics who shuddered instead of giggled, and that person felt they had a duty to report this to authorities, leading to an investigation.

This is just speculation.

There was a case in England, BTW, about a year ago, very similar case -- sadistic Brit soldiers forcing Iraqi POWs to simulate sex acts, and photographing them. He got caught when he was on leave back in England, and took them to a one-hour photo place. The techie there had the good sense to deceitfully detain him, and contacted authorities, who nabbed the sadistic little creep.

I will also contact 60 Minutes and see if I can find out how the images came to be in their possession and if they are truly aware of the circulation of these images on the internet, as is alleged.

6. Well consider the case of the mercenary that has the contract for Iraqi
police and corrections, DYN CORP. DYN CORP. did a similar job in Bosnia, many kids wound up in porn from DYN CORP. employees that teamed up with ethnic mafias to run child sex slave rings, guns and drugs.

When Mary Robinson of UNHRC wouldn't back off her pursuit of DYN CORP. criminals involved in the child sex slave cases, she was removed from her position.

DYN CORP. training and setting up police and corrections is really letting organized crime run law-enforcement and corrections imo.

Lots of kids from Bosnia, Croatia, Russia and other East European nations wound up in porn because of the corruption of the nature of for profit war companies, like DYN CORP.

8. According to Reality Macedonia and CBS
The soldiers took the pictures and were sending them out to people. That's my guess of how some ended up on the Internet. The govt. had the soldiers hand over the pictures last month.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/27/60II/main614063.shtml

And as usual, it was all very hush, hush. Had these pictures not ended up on porn sites, we would probably have never learned about this. Bush can say he is "disgusted" all he wants. He is the Commander in Chief and ultimately responsible for this flagrant violation of international law!
