Does anyone here believe the pretzel story?

I have never bought it for a second. I mean, I have choked before and I didn't fall over and bust my head open, I just dislodged it from my windpipe.

Does anyone else here think that a big part of Srub's complex and addiction to secrecy could be related to a personal ailment of some sort. I know some people here have suggested that he could have mild epilepsy or something like that. I just think that an embarrassing ailment really explains the secrecy in a more personal light.

I don't think it is good for the President to show weakness to the world so I can understand why they would hide it. That doesn't bother me at all. They hided Kennedy's problems as well..

What's everybody's take on this?

7. The only way you can accept that is to completely
disregard his claim to be re-born. I'm not sure if I can do that.

He's just not that good of an actor to pull of this whole religious thing.

9. I thought about that too..

I think that may be a possibilty but drunk to the point of passing out and falling on his face...in the White House? It's just hard to believe that he would have passed out on his face. Maybe I'm being naive, but I have plenty of experience drinking and even the hardcore alkies I know don't often manage to fall on their faces.

But than again this is Shrub we are talking about...

Not every day. Not "often." But certainly more than once. I don't think one "pretzel incident" in 3 years is that bad for somebody at Whistleass's level of problem. I had a friend who fell down right on Royal Street and had to be taken away in an ambulance just from being drunk. They tested to see if there was anything neurological they should be concerned about but the verdict, as another older drunk told me was: "Drunks fall down." This poor woman looked as if someone had broken her nose, it was a mess.

... that he was actually in charge. He learned differently.

5. some say seizures
I've read about medication he has to take twice a day, could be Dilantin or some anti-seizure med. The cause may be the cocaine or booze.

8. It was most likely a vasovagal episode
This is a disorder that causes seizure like episodes in certain individuals when they are in pain or panicked. I have a student who has these episodes everytime she hurts herself (she had a seizure last month, complete with bladder incontenance because of a paper cut). Bush most likely panicked when he choked and as a result had a vasavagal seizure. It happens when the vagus nerve is stimulated and causes the pulse to drop and the blood pressure to drop. Bush supposedly has a very slow pulse anyway and low/normal blood pressure, which would make him more prone to these types of attacks.

12. That makes sense..

Thank you for explaining that.

As entertaining as it is to believe he was drunk, I really believe the nutball is a fundie, born again whackjob. I think he gave up the booze..

10. Please, this Pretzel story is so OLD! Come up with something better, Okay
Give it up.

Lots more going on than this very, old, tired story.

Yes, Bush is not quite right. We are all disturbed. Leave off, and let us all try to fix what is wrong. It is not just this administration. The problem includes our elected officials and the corporatization of our government. It includes the military/industrial complex that Ike Eisenhower warned us all of in his farewell speech to the nation. Read Smedley Butler, Read Eugene Debs, read Mark Twain's War Prayer, this is a war that has been being fought for a couple of hundred years.

Take your pretzels and go home.

11. Nope. I never believed it.
It was good for jokes, but it's to cover up for something else. Either the drinking or the seizures could be it, but we won't know unless someone writes a book about it.
