BBV: I am retracting my support of "The RECORD Act of 2004"
A visitor to my website, moveleft.com, pointed out that there is a huge loophole in "The RECORD Act of 2004."

States can says it's a "technological impossibility" for them to require paper ballots, and then they won't have to.

`(D) The Commission will certify voting equipment that meets the requirements of section 301. States must use certified voting equipment, or the interim paper ballot system described in subparagraph (C), or apply to the Commission for a waiver which the Commission may grant if the State demonstrates that it is technologically impossible to comply with such requirements. States receiving such a waiver shall submit reports to the Commission demonstrating the steps the State is taking to remedy the technological impossibility.'.

Pleaee support "The Voter Confidence Act" in both houses.

HR.2239- House bill number of "The Voter Confidence Act."

S.1980- Senate bill number of "The Voter Confidence Act."

You can contact Congress by dialing
1-800-839-5276

and asking to be transferred to the office of the Congressperson or Senator.

1. I'll bet ya 5 bucks
as to the source of that loophole...

I had a "sliver of a peek" at what went on in March when that bill was crafted, and it went from a mediocre bill, to a strong bill, and then got diluted...

What a pity.

Clue: among the 3 Senate bills, who had the weakest?

3. Greg - did you know about the loophole before tonight?
I just found out tonight.

If verifiedvoting.org had prominently displayed a warning against "The RECORD Act," I would never have asked people to support it.

(I know that you're not responsible for what they do now).

4. Thank you eric....

The Record Act does have some very good points to it, but that hole in Clintons' head is just too big.....

You're right tho' Verfied Voting should display the support more strongly.

I think they are just trying to ingore it and keep the number out of sight - thus less public support, but if people aren't clued in on a good analysis, than.......

anyway, thanks for retracting your support of the record act....
