censorship blowback
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 06:56 PM by riverwalker
Sinclair had no idea of the publicity their attempts at hiding the names of the dead would generate. The story is all over. People who never watch Nightline, will now be watching Nightline. Sinclair also refused to return phone calls to CNN to explain their position, which is gutless.
I think the American people are wondering why giving 2 seconds to mention the name of soldiers who have given us their lives, is so threatening.
Update: Anderson Cooper (CNN) just said they have recieved hundreds of emails from families of fallen soldiers regarding Nightline, and none of them were against the show. Wow.

If this program does turn Americans against the war, so be it. The truth is supposed to set us free. Anyone who would deny our right to the truth is, in fact and action, UnAmerican. Anyone who would agree with the Sinclair position has already been brainwashed by the lies this administration has been spoon feeding to their media lackeys.
Our rights to an open and honest government were not taken by the actions of some foreign terrorists, but they are, sadly, being taken from us by the misguided among us.
There was an expression back in the sixties that most found despicable--America, Love it or Leave it.
I now have a new respect for that sentiment and would hope to pass it on to all who would take issue with Mr. Koppel's attempt to bring some honesty and honor to the victims, families, and all Americans.

4. but Randr that is why the 70's hated the "Love it or leave it"
slogan. Like Franken says, the RW loves USA like a child loves it mother, with no doubt or question. The left loves USA like an adult, able to differentiate between what is good and bad, what is right and what needs to be changed and adjusted. I haven't seen anything lately that would make me ever want to utter "Love it or Leave It"
