Kerry Bashing Doc not medic of record...
Bless those good right wing Swift Boat Vet patriots trying to protect us from a Kerry presidency. (Sarcasm here) Dr. Letson of Scottsboro may have some 'splainin' to do.
Jodi Wilgoren's report on page A22 of today's NY TIMES, (www.nytimes.com/2004/05/05/politics/camp/05VETS.html)says, and I quote:
"Regarding Dr. Letson's recollection of Mr. Kerry's wound, Michael Meehan, a (Kerry) campaign spokesman, noted that a different person , J.C. Carreon, had signed the "sick call sheet", summarizing treatment of the injury, and asked, "Who is this guy? How do we knw that he was the doctor who treated him?"

Looks like the Kerry folks are getting their instant response machine in gear. Hurray.

1. Nice work.
I thought it was pretty odd that some guy remembered treating a nobody for a insignificant wound 40 years ago.

2. I guess it's not amazing, but it's revealing that the media doesn't do the
due dilligence on these people BEFORE they publish their stories.

"All the news that fits, we print."

3. The right wing swift boat vets are pure scum of the earth
Kerry's former CO wrote an outstanding fitness report on the young officer and war hero. Now, 35 years later, serving as karl rove's whore he changes the story he wrote shortly after it happened. He was either lying then or his is lying now. There was a time in this country that civil discourse of different political opinions was possible. But right wing garbage like the lying knuckleheads of Kerry's past has made them the good old days.

May I remind my fellow Sailors of the Navy's core values:

HONOR, COURAGE, COMMITMENT. They don't die when you retire

10. Media will NOT rebut...
Or, if they do, it will be quickly and "discreetly" done so that it gets the LEAST amount of coverage. The important thing is to get the lie out on the Dem candidate... never mind getting the truth out. That is no longer what the American media is about! :grr: :mad:

12. CBS rebutted this story last night
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/05/04/eveningnews/main615566.shtml

This is the same group of shitheads who smeared John McCain and Max Clelland.

<snip>
Although the organizers of the press conference deny that politics was behind their criticism, past associations beg their apolitical pretension.

John O’Neill, who spoke first, debated Kerry about Vietnam on the "Dick Cavett Show" in 1971. Back then he was handpicked by the Nixon administration to discredit Kerry.
</snip>

<snip>
These are some of the same Republicans linked to attacks on Sen. John McCain's Vietnam war record when he faced President Bush for the Republican nomination in the 2000 campaign.

Most controversial, some of the organizers were behind TV ads that portrayed Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., as unpatriotic – Cleland lost three limbs in Vietnam.

"That sticks in my craw and it ought to stick in yours, because if you didn't go to war don't throw rocks at those who did," Cleland said.
