SNIP...."A "Blue-Grassroots" Movement in Kentucky Demonstrates the Power of Democracy for America
Starting on February 18th, Change for Kentucky began as a new grassroots political movement dedicated to changing the political landscape of Kentucky politics. It debuted on March 2, 2004 with the goals of bringing VOICE, VOTES and VICTORY to the Bluegrass State via the ideals and principles of Democracy for America.

Since 1990, Kentucky has seen both U.S. Senators, four of six U.S. House Representatives, the State Senate and the Governorship taken by Republicans. Democrats once dominated Kentucky politics but now hold the lowest level of public office leadership in the state since 1955. Kentucky has become a "Red State."

With this in mind, the first Change for Kentucky initiative was to revitalize and reenergize the leadership of the Kentucky Democratic Party. We concentrated our efforts on the Democratic Party Precinct Leadership Elections, held across the state on April 17......"MORE

Here are the changes they made as of April 24th:

As of April 24, here's what Change for Kentucky has accomplished within the KY Democratic Party:

Over 250 "Dean Democrat" precinct leaders elected state-wide
\Franklin County (Frankfort) precinct participation increased by 35% (42 out of 44 precincts now represented)

Six (6) Change for Kentucky supporters on the Franklin County Executive Committee (out of 10 total)

Fayette County (Lexington) precinct participation increased by 300% (260 total precinct committee persons, 125 Change for Kentucky supporters)

Change for Kentucky supporters won three Legislative District seats on the Fayette County Executive committee, representing 45% of the voting Democrats in Fayette County.

Change for Kentucky supporters won seats on 15 County Executive Committees statewide.

Over 100 Change for Kentucky delegates to the KY State Central Executive Committee Convention in June 2004.

1. This is the way to do it
from the ground up. Bit by bit, take back the country. Get on school boards, get involved in local election procedure. Change the terms of debate in this country.

We hope to have 100 members by the end of the month. I am sure we can pull a few in from the Kucinich campaign after the convention.
