5. Supposedly
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/05/politics/05CND-SPEN.html

"The aides said the request was to cover "basic stuff" like fuel, food and personnel.

"The administration is requesting a $25 billion budget amendment to support our troops overseas," said Senator Bill Frist of Tennessee, the Republican majority leader, after meeting with Mr. Wolfowitz and senior Republicans responsible for budget and spending issues.

The request reflects a change in course for the administration, which had previously said it did not expect to ask for additional money in 2004 after receiving $87.5 billion last November to cover its operations in Afghanistan and Iraq."

14. Which personel...the contractors...
You mean Bush squandered the 87 Billion on contractors and now he is appealing to our humanitarian side to feed the troops.

What a load of horse shit

6. I think he'll have to vote no, politically...
he might be able to get away with a yes vote if there are no no-bid contracts, etc... It puts him in an awkward position.

7. As far as I know,
they still haven't given Congress an accounting of the 87B previously allocated, even though Congress has been requesting this for the last few months.

12. As a presidential canidate
I don't know that he'll be able to avoid this vote. Either way, Rove's ready to spin his vote, but if he ducks this issue, Rove may not have to do anything at all. He's my senator at the moment, and he better show up and vote on this!

15. If the military does not have the money,
chances are real good they will have to bring some of the troops home. Gee! But then, I say, bring them all home. Let the U.N. sort out the mess Bush* created and hold him and his gang of thugs accountable.

18. Another gang of thugs
(the UN) will not solve this problem. Iraq doesn't want foreigners on it's soil, it's that simple. I don't know that the UN will be any more successful than we are, which isn't very much. People outside the country will feel better about the "international effort", but I don't think they'll help Iraqi's at all. Instead of being occupied by the people in the tan helmets, they can be occupied by the people in the blue helmets? We should just get out of there.

soldiers. NO No a hundred times No unless it is to be used to bring our troops home NOW.

19. None of the above. He should bring his own measure.
Requesting that any additional money for Iraq be fully funded with tax dollars, not borrowed from our children.

If any Republicans vote against it, they can be rebuked for voting against funding our troops during a time of war, just like Kerry was.

Our troops are willing to sacrifice their time, their bodies, and their lives for this cause. The wealthy chickenhawks and keyboard generals who cheer on the war are willing to do absolutely NOTHING to assist in the war effort.

Time for them to put up or shut up. Either this war is worth sacrifice, or it's not. Assuming there are 200 million taxpayers, and the cost is $50 billion, that's $250/taxpayer. How about it freeps? Will you pay $250 to support the war?
