Democrats are talking up McCain as VP because.... |
|
It is a very clever move by the Kerry campaign. It plays into the sympathies of those Repubs that support John McCain and are opposed to Bush and his policies. It helps Kerry in that it makes him appear to be non-partisan and willing to put the country above politics. Perhaps the appearance is real? Nonetheless, it is a plus for the Kerry campaign to promote this idea of McCain for VP - whether or not there are any intentions of asking him to take the job - because it appeals to those Repubs that are looking for an alternative to George W Bush....

I am insulted and outraged by this incessant Republican attempt to co-opt an election we're obviously going to win.
As for any Democrat who pitches this nonsense.......that ain't a Democrat.

2. Ok, wild side of the imagination - McCain switches to the Dem party |

in June and Kerry sez, you're my man, come be my VP. Does that drive the GOP faithful to the polls - for Bush or do they split and go to Kerry? Do the Dems say this is insane and flock in whatever percentage, say 5% to Nader?
I think its a dangerous game. But you know what they say about opinions and everyone having them.

3. I am really tired of this nonsense about McCain |
|
The simple fact is that he supports *, and anyone who is able to do that should not be considered for anything. The other thing that is a very possible scenario is that * withdraws for obvious mental health reasons and who would be the rw candidate? you can see what you are doing in considering McCain. This could be one great big backfire. We have very good possibilities in our own party who will support our our cause. As far as uniting the parties there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Kerry will do a far better job of this than *. Let's just get on with the getting on.

5. I think it is simple political strategy.... |
|
McCain has a significant following within the Repub Party. If Kerry is more appreciative of "them" than Bush, this could be beneficial to the Democrats in November. I think it is as simple as that and McCain does not want the job and Kerry is not going to pick him for the job.
