Close call, especially with the conservative base upstate. I still say Kerry takes NY.

2. Giuliani?...isn't he a puke?
Seems to be a lot of pushing for a Republican to be on the Democratic ticket as VP.

Why?

5. No because NY will find out how Rudy refused to get respirators for 9-11
workers and how his screwing up the radio equipment for years led to additional deaths.

Plus he supported the EPA lies, and he knew they were lies, on the toxicity of the 9-11 dust.

His actions will lead to the early deaths of literally thousands of people, maybe tens of thousands--that's Guiliani's record on 9-11!

3. First, I doubt this will happen! If he does, Bush will lose NY.
Lots of people like Rudy, but don't like Bush. If Rudy were to run for Pres....well....I think he stands a real chance! But not second on the ticket.

Too many NY folks are unhappy with Shrub I think you can enhance the prime candidate with a great VP, but you cant win the election unless most of the poeple want the top guy!

nah,Even though I kinda like Rudy, he gave us tax free clothing and he showed great leadership during 9/11 he can't negate the harm Bush has done.

15. Go shopping, cut taxes
that would be the sum total of a Bush/Giuliani ticket.

I can't speak for upstate, but I don't think NYC would go for it. Bush has screwed NY so badly, I don't think he'd win if Hillary were his running mate.

Sorry, tired of the VP what if's.

I've given the Kerry campaign my suggestion. Don't communicate with the Bushco's. And I'm fine with waiting for our nominees choice.

11. right
Speaking as a member of the Bridge 'n Tunnel Club, I recall that right before 9/11, Giuiliani was detested by NY'ers.

9/11 changed everything in that regard...for a time.

10. Nope, before 9/11, Guiliani was not a very good mayor.
And even his "leadership" on 9/11 is overrated -- I believe any mayor would have done what he did.

He sold the city out to the chain retailers, the police under his watch were in the news constantly for their brutality. Many more problems, too.

13. Have to agree.
Giuliani was an arrogant crank, but somehow dug up whatever's good in him to lead a little on 9/11 (doesn't negate his failures w/radios, etc.). He acted on 9/11 the way Bush should have. He's still a crank, though.

12. Any good will that Guiliani has
will go away from association with Bush*. He's also pro choice and pro gay so Bush*s base would go bizerk over that. Would be fun to watch that though.

14. Cheney will be dumped
But Bush has got to put one of these three states in play: OH, MI or PA. And to win border line states he has to choose a moderate.

WHitman, Dewine and Cohen would all be possbilities.

McCain would be a smart choice electorally...but He is not a loyal Bush man and that will be the Kiss of Death,

17. Whitman wouldn't take it, and Cohen wouldn't either. Dewine don't know.
I don't see any of those as a Shrub shoice if no Cheney.

I'm thinking more like Frist, Deley, or that nut from Alabama....the one who put the 10 comandments in the court house.

Any of them would guarantee his base would come out very strong because they would be such strong supporters.

If that would be enough to win.........who knows.

He is from Texas.

Frist would be an ok choice but the Deep south is not in play. So that buys* nada.

What about Tom Ridge? Might put PA in play.

18. Not gong to happen
Cheney is crucial to Bush keeping his RW core happy and there is no way that Bush will replace Cheney unless Cheney has another major heart attack or is indicted.

Removing Cheney from the ticket would piss off the RW base of the GOP and hurt Busn is several swing states.

I was in NYC this weekend and the barteender and I talk politics for bit. His feeling is that Bloomberg is toast. Rudi won't fun for senate against Hillary and he WON'T take the #2 spot with ANYONE. He said Rudi will run in 2008, if Bush get another term.

Hopefully that won't happen.

28. Where's Rudy???
Has anyone really seen much of him lately? Especially any endorsement for the Chimpster?

Methinks Rudy is enjoying bringing down the big coin on the rubber chicken circuit...doing "motivational" speeches at $50k a pop (and free food, jet, hotel). I can't see him wanting to get near a sinking ship...his ego isn't big enough to save this ship.

Has Rudy testified in front of the 9/11 commission? Anyone?

And will be in the uncomfortable position of comfirming Bushco's lack of interest in anti-terrorism, at least with respect to New York, prior to Sept 11.

There was a thread in LBN or GD about this late last week or on the weekend.

Edit: yup, here's the thread:

Honey-glazed ham-handed is still ham-handed. Guliani was an imperious chest-thumper who deserves credit for a few things (but much fewer than HE thinks he deserves it for), but made plenty of problems worse by having an ego and inability to admit error unmatched by anyone except the current Bush (mal)administration.

He may have good press, but he made plenty of enemies too.

And one wonders how well such an open and flagrant and unrepentant adulterer will play out in the Bible Belt...

ON EDIT: as someone pointed out above, Rudy isn't inclined to play #2 to anyone, he has no history of loyalty to the BFEE, and if he DID accept the VP spot, it would be so he could spend the next four years running for President in '08. That would be at odds with the neocons, who'd want to go whole hog now once * didn't have to worry about reelection.

36. absolutely not!!!!
Upstaters who might be swing voters HATE new york city with a passion, and Giuliani might actually bring FEWER votes for Bush.

(I'm just reporting, I do not agree....)

People who will vote for Kerry will not be swayed into voting for Bush by Giuliani.

In NYC itself, Bush screwed the city. The Bush EPA lied to New York about air quality. Bush scewed the firemen and police force.

There is absolutely no way Bush could carry New York. No way.
